And to think 150 years ago, the White House was wide open and anyone could walk into the "People's House", even converse with the POTUS if he was around. We've descended from that lofty point to this.

Personally, I like it. The Emperor has no clothes. When anyone in a position of authority reveals a truly abusive nature, more people can wake up to what's really going on. No more of this dying of a thousand tiny cuts over a long period of time. The People already know the truth, maybe the media will finally get it.

"These United States of America" has been dead for a long time. They only live in the hearts and minds of patriots.

Comrads, in 1977 I toured the White House with my grandparents. I still have the ticket stub next to my Charlie's Angles trading cards in my scrapbook. That was the last time I was in DC until this past Monday. I was in 3rd grade at the time and don't remember much of the visit. But judging from the photos I have, it was a far far different place.

Today's DC reminds me of the landscape of Europe with the monarchs walled into their castles and the peasants begging at the gates for redress of grievances. The monarchs of the time were just as likely to dump hot oil on the subjects as address their concerns.

My how low we have come.

The media got it years ago. With the exception of Fox, the media is in on it. The usurper couldn't have gotten ...ahem..."elected" without the complicity of the media.

I clearly remember all of the hand wringing by the leftist media after Reagan and Bush. They'd hold seminars and such to self flaggellate over 'why didn't we do more?' etc.

Well, they finally decided to take an active role and politics will never be the same again.

Unless new media takes over in being able to impact independents and 'casual voters', it may literally be virtually impossible to get elected and govern as a conservative.

The old media still decides what is news and the appropriate slant for huge numbers of Americans. From now on, they will essentially campaign for their chosen nominee and 'beat the Bush' out of any Conservative elected, to the point where they can't govern.

Remember all the leaks coming out of the Dept. of State, FBI, etc. Those only work with a complicit press, willing to damage an administration (and often the country) for political advantage.

Obama generally gets a pass and lies to the people daily, with confidence.

A conservative president will be villified on EVERYTHING, just like Bush was.

No it's not. What we knew is long dead. I don't care what the vote crowd says, we will never have the chance to elect someone who will erase all the anti freedom and illegal laws, bills and treaties. We talked a good game but alas we sat on our rear ends and let it happen. I will be the first to say they did not take away our country WE gave it to them.

This pretty much sums it up. The only way to turn things around would be to get rid of the dems and RINO's but unfortunatly people keep falling for their BS hook, line & sinker. The only other way is through revolution which would be devestating to all and even then would not quarentee a return to the republic our founding fathers worked and fought so hard for.

No, this isn't America. And you're going to have to deal with that, unless you're willing to do what it takes to straighten it out. The rebs couldn't do it. I don't know if we can, either.

For anyone who thinks the republicans are the ticket... like one of the poster's above... pull your head out of your ass. flip side of the same coin.

And what is your solution? What is your alternative to removing the Progressive Socialist Democrats from office? Who do you suggest we replace them with? Don't even go with the third party option because right now that is not a viable solution and the reality is, if we don't stop the socialist push NOW, then we as a free and sovereign nation are doomed. Like it or not, the Republicans are the only alternative we have at this critical time.

When hasn't it been a critical time? When is it finally going to be time to elect a candidate that isn't just another Republican hack who's only marginally better than a Democrat?

Short of a viable third party, getting the conservative party to limit how much power is vested in the NE. I was in AZ for the last election. By the time I was able to vote for a primary candidate, Juan McCain was the only alternative. I personally think every state should vote on the same day, let everyone decide who will be the candidate. No way I would have voted for McCain if I was given another option.

As it stands, Ohio and a small few other states get to tell the rest of us who we are forced to vote for.

The country as we know it is on life support. Elections will do nothing but pacify and we'll be lead to believe we'll get things done with a conservative landslide. It will help and we'll feel good but let's be real. The seeds for a Socialist agenda have been planted and reversing this by anyone will be difficult and almost impossible. We would need years of continual conservative leadership from the house and senate right to the WH to get it back on track. Then can we even trust them? Truth be known what man has big enough nads to begin the process of restoring financial responsibility to the country? It's a monumental task and once you begin taking away what people have become dependant upon for living, it could get ugly. We have a monster on our back with the size our debt. The CBO has projected the size of the federal debt to increase by nearly 250 percent over 10 years, from $7.5 trillion to $20 trillion. By 2020, the Treasury may have to borrow about $5 trillion per year to refinance maturing debt and raise new money. How does anybody fix or begin to pay for this? The country is divided more so now than ever before. It would take the vast majority of people to support a new POTUS to cut and cut deep. We all know the stench taking us down will be fighting at every proposed cut. We have the world riding on our shoulders and if we don't turn this around now it's not just us going down in flames but rather the world. What we have facing us is more than one or two favorable election cycles. Restoring fiscal responsiblity will keep us breathing but then we have to get rid of a whole culture of corruption that won't go away without fighting. It may be what we'll see is either revolution or economic collapse. Depending on which happens first may be what decides if we are still the USA. Think what you want but just one election won't fix this. It may be left up to us.

As soon as a Republican does it... and they have, and will, Fox will be an apologist for it. Don't be fooled into thinking that they will put a stop to it (repubs). They will take up where this administration left off, just like he has done with all of the previous administration's assaults on Liberty. Nothing will change until we stop buying into this "my team" BS. 99% of the politicians from both parties are NOT on ANY common man's team. They just lie, so you will think they are, and support their nonsense and lies.

The "Mass Media" including FOX needs a massive enema... almost as baddly the .gov does.

I couldn't agree more.

This is why I and others tried to tell everyone before Obama's election how destructive he would be even if limited to a single term.

If immigration reform gets passed, it will be the final nail in the coffin. Even without that, as you point out, enormous irreversible damage has been done already.

There will be no elections in the fall. The administration will create a crisis and invoke martial law thus no elections. These people will not give up their power.

I only see one way out and that is to get a state to succeed from the union and go "Galt" on the rest of the country.

Probably not going to happen. Many of us don't even want to leave MA.

State succession is difficult at best, unless it is Texas or Alaska, they both could potentially be independent states due to port infrastructure capabilities. A landlocked state would be choked off by the .gov forcing the people to their knees. But still a simple naval blockade would choke any oceanfront state. It would take many states to join hands to force the government to change their evil ways, but then were right back at a civil war/revolution.

the state succession thing was tried once. I seem to remember it was people from our geographical local that nixed that.

For those of you spouting "conservatism" as the answer... unless by that you mean fiscal only, you are being mislead. A man is either for liberty, or against liberty. He cannot only support the liberties he'd choose other men to have and call himself a lover of freedom. It is either liberty for all men for all things, or none.

Many of our dear conservatives are just as much the fascist pigs that their liberal brothers are. They both suffer the unfortunate opinion that they have the right, even the responsibility, to tell sovereign men how they must live in their own homes. Filth, by any other name, is still filth.
