No this question is not from 2015. May be buying one and i am not very confident in doing it myself. Any gun smiths still do these things in MA?

I am far from a gun smith, but I converted one years ago. It was super easy. Don't be scared, you can do it!

I converted one as well and I am mostly thumbs - wasn't too bad to do it

Here is a thread from a couple of people (including me) who did the conversions:

Its on a 308 which involves drilling an extra hole i believe. Id hate to spend money buying a post ban rifle to mess it up and be out a lot of money.

Saiga what?
Its funny this was posted.
I started to think I almost lost out on finding parts to do my Saiga 12. Carolina Shooters Supply still has "some" parts left.
I ordered my trigger guard and trigger group. I'm on my own for the pistol grip and standard stock.
I have a pistol grip. Black plastic stocks are higher $ than I remember them to be.

G&N at Gartman Arms does them if you have the parts. They recently finished the conversion on my Saiga 223. I highly recommend them, they do a great job!

Converted my Saiga12 myself as well. Very easy and gives you some experience working on firearms. Go buy your parts and try doing them yourself. If it ends up being to much then you can go to a gunsmith.

WELL quarantine (not really) gave me the time to convert my Saiga 12.

Trigger and FCG from Carolinashooters like I posted earlier, Stock from gunbroker, and I had a pistol grip and screw.
Mine is the poor guys conversion but it works. I'll look at a forward grip or some kind of minimal rail in the future for an optic or just to hide the original sights.

I changed enough parts on my Ishmash made Saiga 12 that it is now considered an American made gun.
I have five 20 round Drum Mags for it too.

I did a 308.
Very straight forward. There was nothing terribly difficult about it aside from the tab on the safety that blocks the trigger was a little short for the new trigger. Had to throw a bead of weld on it and file it to shape.

I did one years ago. I bought all the parts in a kit. Pretty easy but it does require drilling. Youtube used to have some good videos on how to do it.
