The rifle is 1980 Soviet SVD with bayonet lug and flash hider. Pistol grip is questionable since it has a thumb hole stock but lug and flash hider are two evil features right there. But since it's 1980 it's preban... right? Preban+all evil features in the world= MA legal. Am I correct?

nope, illegal as hell so you should forget all about it...
so who is selling it and how much do they want.. I may have to get this poor gun off the street and into a nice warm safe.

(if you dont realise I am full of it, congrats on finding what I am sure will be a nice shooter)

Didn't they do away with class A and B with the new law making it a plain old LTC?

The assault weapon ban didn't start until September 13, 1994, so guns and magazines manufactured before then are exempt as long as they were acquired legally. You still need to have a class A LTC to possess a gun capable of using a high capacity magazine though.

The bolded is incorrect if a large-capacity rifle/shotgun and I'm unaware of any Dragunov pistols. All you need is ANY LTC, A or B doesn't matter (for large-capacity long guns and mags for same).

Not really. The law says that no LTC-Bs will be issued after the law was passed. However existing LTC-Bs will be allowed to "run out" for the next 5+ years with the restrictions inherent in the LTC-B, so in 2020 there will no longer be any LTC-Bs in existence.

If it was made in 1980, it's preban. Period. close the thread.

OP,
Put some tape on the receiver cover before you shoot. The rifle really whips the casings and scratches the cover.

Also, do a good amount of reading between the Russian SVD, Tigr, Chinese SVD and the PSL. There is a lot of misrepresentation.

I was about to post something saying that its unfair to Dems because many southern pro-gun Dems voted against it and some Northern anti gun Rs voted for it.

Then I googled it. And I was wrong. The vote was pretty much split along party lines, with a handful of northern Rs and a handful of southern Dems breaking ranks. At least in the house.
