Is HSC USPSA still on for today?

There was a surprising amount of people there today. Congrats to the winners and thanks to all the put on a fun match

We had a good battle in Open class, Nick Jr is becoming a threat.

Great stages yesterday. Lots of open area to move which is always fun. Got my holster issues that have been plaguing me for the last few matches sorted out and finally was able to shoot a clean match again! I do have a good blooper video from stage one. I'll post it later. I should have stayed away from the hot dogs - they blew my concentration. [rofl]

Thanks for another great match guys!

Looks like you shot another great match yesterday Matt- great work!

Thanks Dave. You also did well. Looking at the list, there was some seriously stiff compeition in production with so many great shooters yesterday.

I have lots of good role models to learn from. [wink] That's what's so awesome about this sport. The very guys that you are trying to beat don't think twice about helping you out! 20 people in Production... pretty awesome turn out.

I used my G17 and shot production instead of the 1911 for the first time. I was surprised I could reach those steel on stage 6 with such tiny bullets.

That was a haul for sure.... that's why I go with the 147grain bullets! LOL. I didn't have as much of a problem with the long steel on that stage as I did figuring out where to go next! Being the 2nd shooter on that stage was a bummer!

As promised my blooper on stage one. Yep, I forgot to reload... Let the flaming begin. [flame] [crying]

Stages two, three, and six were better though. [smile]

Hell I won't flame you... there was some damn good shooting in there. Your shooting on the move is awesome. Liked how you cleared the steel on stage 6 so damn quick. Very nice.

They didn't want to get their "good" guns wet! I've shot my 21" Benelli at trap, big mag and all, because I didn't want to get my O/U wet. [smile]

Oh my God, Dan. I shoot my k80 in any and all weather.
The "good" gun is way easier and quicker to clean than any of the autos.
the over under is made to get wet. you wipe it off, and stick it upside down in the rack and let it drip dry, then clean it up.

Thanks to all at Harvard who put the match on, there were lots of fun running around stages

Matt, usually I'll just shoot my Browning, and do as you do. Sometimes I'll toss in one of the other guns for fun. The Benelli only had the excess water wiped off, I swear the only steel on it is the barrel. [smile]
Good shooting Sunday, by the way.

I know... mistakes, fumbles and brain farts happen. Its one thing to have a fumble or stumble. It it totally something else when I just forget to reload / count. It is hard to stay focused and execute sometimes and mistakes like that cost stage positions-especially with so many good shooters competing. I'm shooting an STI limited gun out of a Ribas holster.

Nice job Matt,
Your transitions on to the steel is quick.

On stage 1.
Other than forgetting to reload, If you took the 4th target before shooting through the barrel, it would have saved you a little time since you had to tranisition back to it and when you came over to the right side, shoot the paper, then the steel. Having to kneel then stand cost alot of time when you could have shot the paper coming in, then the steel

Thanks Mike. Excellent advice. I didn't even think to shoot it in that order. I need to squad up with you more so I can pick up tips like these in "real time" while walking through the stages.

Oh Dan you're so picky. [wink]

Good point actually. Personally I would not consider shooting minor in Limited. I would just choose another division.

Some folks have made arguments about shooting Minor in Limited and Single Stack, thinking they could shoot faster and have less reloads. I know that I wouldn't shoot that much if any faster. I'll take the points, please. [wink]

That's interesting... I didn't think of that at all either although I didn't really kneel. I also engaged the steel from the left side. I shot production and had to do a few reloads.... Here's mine:

I wish I had the skills to engage the first targets Matt did on the move to the barrel... sweet!

Whether you kneel or not. its an extra stop that you didn't need. The last position has 10 shots,6 paper, 4 steel. haul ass the corner, shot the paper coming in, stopping where you shot under the NS

Uh yeah... I did see that. However I was a tad concerned with going dry in the low position on the steel. A reload down there would have really sucked. Need more confidence still.

These videos are awesome- they really allow a good stage breakdown after the fact. Thanks!

Dave,
I think you were moving well. Thinking about it I'm not sure how I would have shot that in production. I am not sure shooting the first few on the move would have helped. It would have left you reloading while standing still at the barrel. The way you did it, you shot through the barrel and then loaded during a transition to the next array. Probably how I would have done it. Maybe take one target on the way to the barrel.

Mike - where are the vids from your squad? I'd like to seem some serious blazing!
