I don't think so or Hornady's Ballistic Calculator is completely screwed up. I just got back from the range trying to get ready for the Grandby Long Range match next weekend. So my 100 and 200 yard zero's are good and match up with the Ballistic Calculator. Going from the calculator I need to come up 1.1 MRADs from my 100 yard zero for 300 yards. I do that and I'm hitting 4"-5" high. I back down to .8 MRADs over 100 yard zero and I'm dead on. According to the calculator though .8 is what's needed for 250 yards. Hummmmmm, I'm starting to think that the Harvard 300 yard range isn't exactly 300 yards. Either that or I'm going to have a miserable time next weekend......

Adding some additional information. I'm shooting Hornady 6.5 CM 140 gr ELD Match rounds in a Savage BA Stealth rifle w/ a 24" barrel. From Hornady's web page these rounds are generating a velocity of 2710 in a 24" barrel. The Ballistic Coefficient using G1 is .646 and my center bore to center scope is 2.1". When I add that all together in Horady's calculator I get the following.

Are you sure all the information you entered into your ballistic calculator is correct? Did you chronograph the ammo that you used there? May be a variation in velocity. How many rounds did you fire at 300? This is where a rangefinder would come in handy to check the distance. Good luck!

You're good at 200 but your calculator says the 300 is really 250? Just by eye I can see that the 300 is a lot more than 50 yards more than the 200. I'll email Ed and see if he knows for certain.

200 seems longer by 25 or so feet, also depends what target stand you use, have not been there in some time so that white square is maybe new covered shooting area?

Not quite. According to the calculator my 300 yard come up should be 1.1 MRADs over 100 yard zero. I do that and I'm 4-5 inches high. I adjust down to .8 MRADs over 100 yard zero and I'm dead on. 3 shot group is less then 1 MOA. The calculator says .8 MRADs over 100 yard zero is the adjustment for 250 yards.

Does your ballistic calculator allow you to true your drop and correct your speed data? This allows you to put in you actual drop at 100, 200, 300 yards and back calculates your speed data.

The Hornady calculator doesn't allow for that type of adjustment. Do you have an app that you can recommend that does that?

I use Ballistic AE (advanced edition). It’s an APP that I have on IPad and IPhone. The image for App looks like red and white bullseye on a wood backer. To correct velocity just hit arrow next to velocity and brings up needed screen

I just checked and the iphone AE is now free app. Cost me like $15 on sale three years ago.

+1 You have to chrono your rifle dude... Chrono your blaster and laze the berm, pretty simple solution.

Yep. Searching for a Chrono online now. See if I can get this straightened out by next weekend...... What makes it interesting is I'm playing around with the velocity in the Hornady calculator. If I jack it up to 3100 the 300 yard MRAD setting lines up at .8 over my 100 yard zero. Problem being though is it drops the 200 yard Come Up to .3 MRADs, which I know is wrong as I needed to be .4 MRADs to zero properly at 200 yards.

Just a tad bit frustrated...... This is the fun part, right????

Here is what i used for hornady ag 140bthp out of a 24" barrel. SD was over 20. Out to 700, the numbers were good.

Looking uprange, the white covered area on the right is for the 200 yard targets, and the one one the left (which you're using to calculate distance to 200 yards) is for the 300 yard targets. That could account for at least part of the extra difference.

Haven't actually tried a rangefinder on either targets.
