Interment aboard the USS Arizone

I visited when I was about nine or so, and it's stuck with me ever since. A VERY powerful place. I distinctly remember the park ranger telling us about the interment of attack survivors (this was in 1984).

I've been to any number of war memorials, but the Arizona, the Punch Bowl, and the Vietnam Wall are undoubtedly the three that had the greatest impact on me. Even more than the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Thank you for this. I visited the Arizona and the Punch Bowl back in 1985 and don't recall anything about this ceremony. Very moving and very appropriate!

Very moving. Great tribute to their fallen shipmates to be buried alongside them at sea.
