I was at a friend's house tonight and during the course of our conversations three people that know I'm a gun owner told me that they want to get their LTCs. One is a 28 year old female who has already signed up for a basic safety course at Holbrook Sportsmen's club. She's thinking FID, but I told her to get an LTC if she can. The other two are in their 50s (one is her father) never mentioned owning guns and shooting.

All three said that they decided to do this after Obama was elected. When I get a chance, I'm going to invite them all to shoot with me.

All three were McCain supporters, although none of them were enthused about him. They all think that an Obama Administration is going to be very bad.

I wonder how many other people are out there like this?

The number of applicants will increase after Jan 20, when violence and rioting breaks out around the country. There were already a few hate inspired incidents.

As violence goes up around the country over his election. fear will take hold and gun ownership will go through the roof.

I think there was a huge increase after 9/11 too.

If somebody asks why or if you own guns, it is our duty as gun owners to assist them in making the decison to become a gun owner and exercise 2A. Usually all they need is just a few minutes at the range with you to be convinced. That and maybe watching Red Dawn with them, since that movie is relavant now more than ever. [shocked]

This is a little off topic, but goes along with fear.

It seems that the History Channel has fear too.

They have been running Amageddon and End of Days shows ever since the election!

I ran into a few people that were gonna do the same thing, this is the only good part about him winning the election.

Well, Gary, my Son and his best friend turned 21 this year. Both of them were introduced to firearms at an early age and when they found girls and guitars stopped shooting.

Next Saturday they will both be in a class so they can apply for their LTC. Both gave the election as their motivating force.

I see this happening too. I had a talk with my stepmother the other night (after the election) and she was asking me about how she would go about getting her LTC. She is in her early 60's, is a Rebublican, and is not anti-gun. But the last time she ever "used" one was back in her late teens and early 20's when she lived in Florida and was living alone.

I need to find a good class for her to take. One targeted towards women would be preferable.

My girlfriend has not come out and talked about getting a permit yet, but she is saying she is scared of what Obama will do. I have caught her on the tail end of two conversations in the last couple of days where she was arguing with friends about Obama being a socialist and Obama's idea for a national police corp or whatever it is.

She claims that she won't stay in this country if this sort of stuff starts happening. She doesn't want to live under a socialist dictatorship.

We have an opportunity here to convert a lot of people over to our side.

I keep thinking of that exchange between Luke Skywalker and Yoda:

Skywalker: Master Yoda - I am not scared.

Yoda: You will be - YOU WILL BE.

[smile]

I went to 3 gun stores yesterday - stuff is emptying out. Black rifles are flying off the shelves and the pistol cabinets seem to be emptying out too.

This is going to get interesting.

I'll be attending my LTC course in the next week or two. Last time I shot a gun was when I was 12. Forty-one years ago. I hope to concealed as I now have a nut case in the family, and sorry to say folks, he's a ex-marine.

too bad it's too late.....

I don't know about that. This is all just typical human behavior. People do not typically react to danger - until that danger is upon them. The big question is always: how do they react to that danger.

If we start seeing more and more people going out buying firearms then that is a GOOD reaction to danger. People will buy firearms because they are scared. They will have a fear in their minds that makes them get those firearms.

I have a saying that the worst thing in the world you can do - is to justify my prejudices.

If Obama starts clamping down on gun ownership all it will do is justify in the minds of all these people who have bought guns out of fear - that they were right to be scared.

This is potentially a massive political force that will come over to our side. Just like Obama has played all the moonbats like a fiddle. We need to take advantage of the awakening these people have had and inform and educate them as to why all of this must be fought.

I have been thinking that electing Obama as president might end up being a GOOD thing in the end - because it would wake people up. It sure like looks like that might be starting to happen.

my co-workers and I will quite often go for an after work shoot as we are lucky enough to have the permission of our owner, and the place to do so. During the last month 6 of my co-workers have gone "out back" to shoot with me and a fellow coworker and all have loved it.

It's interesting as well as they all want to know who is the "best" amongst them.

4 of them are female :)

Fixed that for you.

A GOAL Women on Target event is hands down the best option. It's short money, the safety class is taught by one of the best instructors in the state, and they get to try their hand at several shooting disciplines. I'm not sure if there are any more scheduled for 2008, give the GOAL office a call and ask.

I should have gone and looked up the exact quote - I couldn't remember what the exact words were.

I will be signing up to take another Appleseed - or two, next year. I am already pitching the idea to a bunch of people I know. I will supply them with rifles if I have to.

riots

Stay out of Boston and any big city.the gettos my riot but the rest wont.
join us in the red states.got 3 deer in the freezer now.just opened the front door there were 2 in the field less than 100 yrds.[rolleyes][grin]

Visited the American Firearms School range Sunday morning and it was two-deep at the gun counter, which I have never seen before. They have added extra Basic Firearms Safety courses for the extra demand. I heard people making inquiries about the course for themselves and their older children.

I hope things settle down by next month. [thinking]

They were running that before the election. It goes along with their "people are bad, we need population reduction" theme.
