Bob is right. The NYPD definitely has a training problem, but the problem runs much more deeply. In fact, this is an abject lesson in the damage socialism causes, specifically, when socialist do-gooders try to help people, they virtually always cause enormous harm. We begin with the firearms NYPD officers are forced to carry:

lady atilla had just missed that shooting at the empire state building where the cops showed up and shot nine bystanders.

another time there was rioting in brooklyn a few miles from her office.

she picks the shittiest times EVER to go to the toilet that we know as NYC.

Well, at least NYC is consistent. The neutered the police just like they did to the public.

Another issue is the lack of accountability. If any one of us accidentally shot 9 other people in a defensive, deadly force situation, or unloaded a full mag(s) into a newspaper delivery truck and surrounding neighborhood, we would be held criminally and civilly responsible, even in "gun friendly" states.

Yes, a very good point.

I have the NY trigger in my G23

why?

i don't exactly agree with you with what you post all the time, and have probably negged you, but if i have a spare stock connector i'll give it to you provided a connector for a 9mm will work in a fo-tay. i don't dislike you THAT much that i'd wish a NY trigger on you.

I think the "NY trigger" is a connector and spring combo. I had the "plus" connector for a ~year without realizing it, but it was more like 8lbs. It still sucked, especially when I put in the "minus" connector. I didn't even keep it as a spare.

In a gun shop I picked up a Sig pistol that had that 12+ or whatever trigger, and tried to fire it. I literally broke out laughing, it was so absurdly hard to fire. There is no way you could shoot accurately with that kind of pull.

It's just a spring change. I picked up a G19 that had the NY trigger in it. One order from Brownell's and a little surgery later, it was a much better shooter.

Sounds almost as bad as 211 shots and only 4 hits during the marathon incident...

Sent from the blind

This is non sequitur. The cops were shooting the crap out of a boat that the suspect was hiding in. All the shots technically hit the target because they were aiming at the boat. Nobody could actually see the dooshbag inside.

Shooting up the boat is a separate issue and I'm not defending it. It's stupid to think the swat team using ARs would miss a guy that was probably less than 50 yards away.

Let's put this nonsense to rest and bitch about the many legitimate problems.

The NY 2 spring is the one that gives about an 11lb trigger pull. The NY 1 spring bumps the trigger weight up to about 7lbs. Some people like the NY-1 because it makes the trigger reset feel somewhat quicker and more pronounced.

Is there some sort of way to get a Police Accountability Law passed that forces them to be taken off the High and Holy throne for their actions. I have accountability for my job and my actions.

It is my understanding that the Boston PD also use the NY Trigger in their Glocks.

They should be be required to carry unloaded with magazine and ammo kept in their cruiser. For maximum public safety. If it will save just one life................

No, the guns should be remotely disabled. When a cop needs to shoot a perp, he should have to call dispatch, explain the situation, and then have his shoot request vetted by a committee that will determine whether the shoot request is valid and reasonable.

If the committee approves, then the officer's gun will be enabled for 30 seconds to facilitate the shoot. If the encounter lasts more than 30 seconds, the officer will have to file a shoot extension.

Example requests:

1) "Offcier down! My partner has been shot, and several gang members are coming at me with guns and knives!"

Response: Request denied. The alleged attackers are just turning their lives around.

2) "This ignorant m*****-f***** is acting like an ***hole and deserves to be shot."

Response: Approval pending further review.

I respectfully disagree. It take a lot of time but with practice it is achievable. I practiced double action trigger pulls almost ever day to get the memorization down. The trick is to remember where the break point is on the uptake, then stabilize and break the shot. This is instead of breaking the shot in one complete pull.

And you have internalized that to the point where you can do it with unconscious competence during a full-blown adrenaline dump?

Ok, but why? With practice, I can get better at pushing a rock up a hill also.

A 12lb trigger for safety reasons is idiotic and dictated by idiots. A reasonable trigger pull (like a standard Glock trigger) is both safe to carry and safer for innocent bystanders.
