Indiana man was injured when Owen County Sheriff's Department officers arrived on the scene, and ultimately died.

An Owen County, Indiana homeowner died during a home invasion on Wednesday night after exchanging gunfire with the two suspects.

Officers with the Owen County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of an active home invasion just before 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday and when they arrived, they found homeowner Gilardo Garcia Salinas, 39, injured and outside of the home.

How many “home invasions” are motivated by drug-trafficking? Police probably do wrong-address no-knock SWAT entries more often than are home invasions perpetrated on otherwise honest, law-abiding citizens. No statistics there either…

The crime isn't tracked by many law enforcement agencies or nationally by the FBI, which lumps them in with burglaries or assaults. But one thing is sure, law enforcement officials say the incidence of home invasion robbery is on the rise nationwide, in large part due to the activities of Mexican drug cartels.

A B&E if you happen to be home... I'm sure sometimes mistakes ate made by the bad guys.
Interesting question though.

I'd rather go out fighting than tied to a chair... RIP Defender. [halfmast]
