So if the rocket is taking the most direct root possible, it's going to be traveling at about 187 MPH. That's not even as fast as a NASCAR race.

It still affects how quickly you can accelerate (run faster, slower, turn) while carrying the rifle. Heavier load means it will take you longer to start running away from the alien.

nevernind what buffer spring to run. I would think too much or too little would send you into deep space.

I'm picturing an astronaut bouncing freely on the moon. He heads back to the lunar module, grabs the FAL 50.00 with long muzzle brake that I let him borrow for the trip, and plods methodically back to the moon gun range, dragging his feet the whole way.

    Gravity boots.

Or design a gun that has tiny rockets on it to counteract the force from firing.

You wouldn't need much opposite force because you would actually be traveling at only a few cm/sec.
I would think that the small thruster, (haha guys), would depend on the mass of the shooter, so a backpack style attached to the space suit would be better....?

Only applies to countries that are signatory to it. So Columbia, for instance, could go ahead and claim the Moon by establishing a permanent, manned, sorry, PERSONED, presence there.

Suppose that applies to curry as well?

They should go during a full moon. It will be bigger and easier to land on. Of course if there's an eclipse they'll miss it all together.
