Ok I was thinking of reloading so I can shoot more often, I have a 40S&W. What kind of equipment do I need. I would like to try to find an inexpensive turret style press but what other stuff do I need besides the press? I would like to try to stay as cheap as possible. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i use this press and it works great. i do have to prime my cases first even though the press is made to do it. for some odd reason i keep breaking a small peice that cost $3.00. I guess im to lasy to find what cause this problem. I use a lee hand priming tool that cost about $15.00.

this is the priming tool and the shell holders i use.

I use a Lee Pro 1000 for almost all of my pistol calibers (9mm, .38., .357, .40, .45). If you don't mind tinkering with adjustments occasionally, it's a great deal. Mostly it's a matter of actually paying attention to the task at hand. If you want to "set it and forget it", stick with a Dillon, they're bulletproof and have a true No BS warranty.

I would recommend a Dillon Square Deal over the Lee presses. No BS warranty and they flat out work.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I had a Lee Progressive 1000 and it was aweful. Save yourself some time, money, and aggrivation and buy a Dillon.

I once owned a Square Deal and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. The 550 is a superior press and well worth the extra $.

Hey Dennis,

Here's another thread that lists all the stuff you're likely to need (regardless of press manufacturer):

Lee Pro 1000

I have a Lee Pro 1000 for .45 and it works great. Just like anything you have to pay attention to what's happening and most if not all errors are preventable. Honestly for the money you can't beat a Lee Pro 1000.

+1 I've got 2 of them. They are inexpensive enough I have one dedicated for 45ACP, and one for .40. They both work great, and I have loaded thousands and thousands of rounds on each.
