They just never stop in that State. I might even say it's worse then MA, but not by much. This new law will be so obscure that any firearms advertising will be banned.

Illinois to ban advertising for guns allegedly marketed to kids and militants

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- Illinois will soon outlaw advertising for firearms that officials determine produces a public safety threat or appeals to children, militants or others who might later use the weapons illegally, as the state continues its quest to curb mass shootings.

Gun-rights advocates say the plan, which Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker has pledged to sign into law, is an unreasonably vague decree that violates not only the constitutionally protected right to own guns, but also free speech.

The prime exhibit in Democratic Attorney General Kwame Raoul's effort is the JR-15, a smaller, lighter version of the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle advertised with the tag line, “Get ’em One Like Yours.” The maker says it is deliberately made smaller, with added safety features, to fit younger shooters as they learn from adults how to safely maneuver such a weapon. Raoul says it’s marketed to children and potentially entices them to skip the adult supervision and start firing.

It's too bad, a lot of Illinois is great and I work with a ton of amazing people there, but as with a lot of states one big city ruins the whole place
Exactly .. the blue/leftist/progressive politics of Cook and Lake Counties, and a couple others, overwhelm the rest of the state. Retirement cannot get here soon enough.

No surprise that the Illinois supreme court has upheld their ban on A LOT of semi-auto firearms.

No rifles can hold more than 10 rounds. Fifty caliber weapons that have never been used in a crime (as far as I know) are also on that list.

Next step US Supreme Court for sure.

Illinois weapon ban

If SCOTUS takes the case it's gonna be struck down.

While we'd all like to think this ... recent evidence has shown that Roberts is not entirely trustworthy towards conservative/traditional positions. He's demonstrated to be something of a wild card.

As for the details of the ban .. rifle mags which hold more than 10-rounds, pistol mags which hold more than 15-rounds are verboten. Basically any semi auto rifle which accepts a detachable mag is potentially subject to the ban. Even a Ruger 10/22 with a threaded barrel is no-go. Get that same 10/22 with a standard non-threaded barrel - miracle of miracles it no longer is seen as a death-dealing evil killing machine. And don't get me started on registration. That topic deserves its own thread. Maybe, just maybe I'll swap the plain walnut stock on my Marlin 60 (fixed mag, not subject to the ban) for an "ultra ninja tacticool pistol gripped evil killing stock with the shoulder thing that goes up .. because I can.
Gah .. it's too early in the morning to be thinking about taking a couple hits of my 100 proof heirloom rye whiskey. Gah.

Cali already tried this and got shellacked in court for it.
