Firearm Risk Protection Act of 2015
Official Titles:

Official Titles - House of Representatives
Official Title as Introduced:

To prohibit the sale of a firearm to, and the purchase of a firearm by, a person who is not covered by appropriate liability insurance coverage.

WASHINGTON - A new bill introduced in the United States House would prohibit anyone from purchasing a firearm if they are not covered by appropriate liability insurance.

According to the bill, gun owners who don't have coverage could then be fined no more than $10,000.

Servicemen and law enforcement officers would be exempt from the requirement.

The bill was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary.

Wonderful Mass ass Democrats at it again!

This has been tried before, and it died in committee. I get the feeling this bill is headed for a similar fate, but it's worth keeping an eye on in case it somehow manages to move out of committee.

Can I at least hope that the NESers who are represented by Reps Stephen Lynch, Niki Tsongas, and Katherine Clark will express their displeasure, both now and when they are up for reelection?

Nice to know politicians spend their time filing bills based on a framework that does not exist. There is no such insurance. Why not waste our tax dollars writing a bill about space alien abduction insurance. Fire these clowns already.

Its not about reality , its about their agenda! Notice the bill was sponsored by 4 politicians..... 3 of the 4 from Mass.
It will die in committee

Actually insurance wouldn't be a bad thing per sey if you could get the policy to cover ever having to shoot someone because even if it's a clean shoot don't you usually get nailed with a wrongful death and isn't that very expensive.

You generally can't buy insurance coverage for your own intentional act, and homeowner's insurance usually comes with standard coverage for theft and unintentional shootings. So insurers aren't stupid enough to underwrite a policy indemnifying the policyholder against an intentional act, and unintentional acts with firearms which incur liability are so vanishingly rare that insurance covering such events should be dirt cheap. For example, "$500K liability" insurance is about $100/year per person, not per gun. And that's probably an order of magnitude too high.

Assuming there are any "gun owners must have insurance" proponents who aren't going after this as a backdoor to registration, they aren't thinking the issue all the way through, fail to realize how cheap "theft" and "accident" coverage riders would be. After all, if gun ownership actually had any higher likelihood of liability, insurance companies would already be charging extra or using it as criteria for underwriting, just like they do in relation to owning a dog or a motorcycle.

Actually insurance wouldn't be a bad thing per sey if you could get the policy to cover ever having to shoot someone because even if it's a clean shoot don't you usually get nailed with a wrongful death and isn't that very expensive.
Anytime somebody sues you, it's expensive. Civil liability and protections vary greatly from state-to-state.

NH RSA 627:1-a said:
627:1-a Civil Immunity. – A person who uses force in self-protection or in the protection of other persons pursuant to RSA 627:4, in the protection of premises and property pursuant to RSA 627:7 and 627:8, in law enforcement pursuant to RSA 627:5, or in the care or welfare of a minor pursuant to RSA 627:6, is justified in using such force and shall be immune from civil liability for personal injuries sustained by a perpetrator which were caused by the acts or omissions of the person as a result of the use of force. In a civil action initiated by or on behalf of a perpetrator against the person, the court shall award the person reasonable attorney's fees, and costs, including but not limited to, expert witness fees, court costs, and compensation for loss of income.
Attempting to sue somebody in New Hampshire for a "clean shoot" could be very expensive... for the criminal's family.

By this logic you should have liability insurance for your pool or hot tub. #1 cause of accidental death for children under 4? Drowning. Effing liberals.

Dupe. Poor title on the original I guess.

Well fixxah...poor post on you part..

Glad to see you have nothing better in you life to do then to scroll through 50 to 100 posts to see if someone "might have" posted something similar !

If you actually had read my post it was more informative in that it identified that THREE MASS REPRESENTATIVES sponsored this bill in the hope that the MASS people might be aware and could at least contact their representatives and voice their displeasure.

Not everyone on this forum has the time to visit each day and review the new posts.

I know I don't as I have a real life and don't have the time to review a number of days posts.

If you want to be a forum dube police Nazi. your welcome to the position and what it does for your ego.

I join this forum to read and share information with people interested in guns and concerned about issues concerning our 2nd amendment rights.

I guess you joined to act as some sort of dube monitor.

My post tried to be informative to the group about an issue an some here seem un aware of the previous post.

Maybe it was a dube but it did serve a purpose to try to inform others.

Its interesting to see the people that are quick to criticize and post negative comments about other peoples post but rarely have anything positive to contribute or intelligent to say.

What did your post do for the forum conversation other then to point out how "smart you are " in pointing out some of this subject had been covered in a previous posting?

I've looked at the post you've made on other peoples posts and they amount to nothing useful...mostly troll comments!

On well if you can't think, you can always criticize others! LOL
