What I don't get is, where were the conspiracy theories about 3G and 4G? Is this going to morph into the next Orange Man Bad?
I remember years ago before any talk of 5G hearing that the cell towers could all be turned on to some kind of high power mode, which would either:
1. Literally cook everyone as if the entire country became a microwave.
2. Make the people dumb, compliant and easy to manipulate.

Hmm. Maybe the second one is true?

Just east of Zone 9, but in Worcester County.
So, here is what I understand to be the start of all this.

Someone posted a photo of a man in a hazmat suit in a bucket truck by a cell tower. The community this was posted to went all nuts over the fact that "Like, Oh my god, those new 5G must be a biohazard".

And things escalated from there.

Apparently, this is the image:

And of course, the idiots got it wrong. The man is wearing a hazmat suit because he is pressure washing bird poop off the tower and bird poop carries a number of diseases. Why is the tower covered in bird poop? Because locals complained about the unsightly cell tower and demanded the fake tree material be added. The fake tree material attracts the birds.

I wonder how many of those believing the 5G is a biohazard are also the ones who push to have cell towers try to look like trees?

People are Sofa King Stupid!

These idiots also don't seem to realize what he is wearing would do absolutely nothing to stop so called radiation, except maybe alpha and beta particles. But this thing emits radio frequencies. Suit does nothing for that.

Seen yesterday on FB: "Don't forget to research 5G at 60 Hz! It's dangerous!"

lolwhut?

If you're worried about 60 Hz, you better shut off your household electricity.

This is how Huawei increases their sales. Cause a panic, people burn the competition's towers, UK crawls on their knees to you to build new ones.

The fun thing is the .gov has a place for all the 5G tinfoilers..... there are little towns, and houses in the zone....

There are a bunch of people who have moved there that claimed to be affected by RF and EMI etc....

-Mike
My probable hard retirement location is in that zone. Nothing to do with radio stuff; more for vineyards, hiking, and a longer growing season.

if Huawei or any chinese associated company is part of 5g in the US, let them burn all of the towers.

So, I don't get it.... Does the 5G literally create the virus particles? Or do these numbnuts think there is no virus and the symptoms are just caused by 5G?

Eithet way, I miss the good old days when people like this would just try to push over windmills (and fail... LOL)...
I think because its such a great transmitting service that if you have the virus and you call your buddy it transmits the virus thru the phone to your buddy, pretty scary stuff........ [rofl]

No more conference calls over 4 people to help slow the spred!

so 3G was game changing. 4G took shit to the next level and gave us super fast phone internet. But 5G....no man that's just too f***ing far.

WTF rationale do these people have for what they do? We've reached peak Jenny McCarthy.

Man, not that England would actually punish their criminals, but I can't imagine the cost of damages for burning one of those pieces of hardware. They should catch just one or two and make them pay 100% full restitution. Let them work it off the rest of their lives.

What goes around comes around.

Twenty years ago, I worked for a business unit which was building cell phone towers in the USA, for shipment to China.
The first few units we delivered failed shortly after installation. When they finally let us fly an engineer over there to inspect the tower "as installed", it didn't take long to figure out what happened; before the control unit was shipped, it was sealed tight and pressurized with dry nitrogen. China Telecom claimed the seals were broken because their "inspectors" were suspicious of the sealed vessel full of dirty western-nation air. We knew the real reason they took it apart.

I wonder how long coronavirus can survive in a sealed UV-free & oxygen-free environment (like a 5G transmitter enclosure)?😷

5G's usefulness may not make much sense if you're just thinking about your current usage patterns. If you're like me, you may be thinking "This 4G LTE is pretty effing fast... I can stream videos, download podcasts in seconds, etc... do I really need something new?" No, if that's all you're doing with it. What 5G offers is extremely low latency. That allows for new uses that currently would refuse to tolerate latencies that may be in the 100's of milliseconds. We're talking self-driving cars communicating with each other in near real time, etc. You don't want your car to crash into another car because there was a 1 second delay in getting the data, and by then you've moved too far to avoid the collision.

By the way, how are these idiots successfully identifying 5G towers? I'll take a guess they are more likely burning down their 4G towers.

Maybe not tourists, but China has a lot money invested in Africa. And South America for that matter.

Not to mention that most of Africa is not exactly a tourist destination for the Chinese, like say... Italy or NYC.

interesting...I know nothing about it.

I'm not at all moved to upgrade to a 5G phone, bc as you said 4G is totally fast enough for me to browse the googlewebs and watch pornhub.

surprisingly cheap. the outdoor unit...i am guessing maybe $20K, and that includes installation labor. Now if the tower has other lower radio unit on it that are damaged, then you have to add in those costs too.

So, the cost for fixing a 5G tower that someone damaged?

The actual "small cell equipment" on the tower is only 2500 gbp,, or $3110. so if the metal tower itself is reuseable, you probably just have to:

Send a 2 guys out there for a day: $2000
Buy new small cell hardware: $3110
Fix data cables, and fiber optic run to the unit: $500 hardware costs

SO if there was nothing else on the tower that was damaged,, that is about $5600.

If there was a microwave backhaul unit on the tower that was damaged, hardware and installation costs are probably another $5000.

If there were 4G and 3G outdoor units damaged, it could turn into a clusterf*ck, and cost a lot more. Some of the older legacy 4G towers have VERY expensive cabling running between the shack and the antennas, and that is hard to replace too, as it might be packed inside of a full tower

If the metal tower is trashed, you need a new tower, guessing $5K, and a crew with a crane for a couple days...maybe another $5K

there are sooooo many new 5G towers going up, that they really do engineer the heck out of the hardware to make it dirt cheap, and make it easy to install too.

have you considered the more likely scenario, that if you have the virus, the 5G rays will BURN IT from your body? A complete cure?

Remember back more than a few years ago when they said electrical transmission lines were the cause of cancer? They were all about forcing utility companies to put the lines underground no matter the cost. As I recall it took a study of electrical line workers leukemia rates to finally shut them up.
