and i loved every second of it. i paid with ammo without showing a permit. no tax. i found everything was cheaper! why is everyone not in free Hampshire?

the prices aren't what infuriate me, it's the selection that you find at any place in NH, and then you travel 20 miles south.

MA is a colostomy (sp?) bag.

Sometimes it's just not that easy for people to move. I lived on the Northshore and it wasn't that difficult for me.

That's my issue. I have to work in Boston, and commuting from Southern NH doesn't sound appealing to me considering I already get up at 5 and I live on the North Shore.

Mostly, BS excuses... but for the sake of argument I'll concede there are some legitimate life circumstances that very few have that might prohibit it. At the same time, this is a gun owner forum, and gun owners should know they risk their very lives if they ever have to use their gun in self-defense. That being the case, why bother?

In short though, Stockholm syndrome. Having been born and raised in the white-laced curtain of the upper North Shore, I moved going on 4 years ago, and know many others who have moved... It's surprising (or not surprising?) depending on your outlook how many "libertarians" or "conservatives" have apprehension about leaving. One of the most anti-obamacare people I've ever known was actually apprehensive about leaving due to his health insurance... as a result of living under Romneycare. Anti-socialist want to know how the schools are up here, the list goes on.

MA has a certain way of ****ing you up mentally... This board is a perfect example. That isn't to say NH is some anarchist or libertarian utopia, but there is definitely a stark difference in those who have made the sacrifice to move and those who make excuses why they can't.

Certain MA statists rent up here for a few weeks, put their kids in pub ed at their neighbors expense, and pretend like they have their own 40 acre range and are John Galt and all the wiser, when just months prior they exhibited the same caged mentality as any other ward of Deval. It really warrants some major psychological study.

20 minutes further north makes a world of difference.

Not everything is cheaper or more free in New Hampshire (just try dining out, or buying Everclear 190).

I not only made the effort to move to NH, I also helped convince my employer to move the regional office up from MA. As a result, by the end of this year two more of my coworkers will have moved to New Hampshire. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it.

For Massachusetts residents currently in a green town, especially those who work in MA, one tough part of moving is giving up your unrestricted LTC-A and dealing with the annual renewal headaches of non-residency.

I commuted to Cambridge, every day for the last 12 years, 3 from here, up until this summer... it sucked... horribly, but it was worth not living in MA. Every ounce of freedom requires a pound of sacrifice. Look at it as the push you need to find a reason to find a job where you don't work with they typical inside-128 douchebag. Ignore this at your own peril, because those guns you own to defend yourself and your family will put you away for life if you ever need to use them.

20 minutes for 20 miles is worth it, if you value your future in the least.

First off, despite the macho looks and the manly chest pounding, thanks to all the aholes moving from Mass. to NH, it's rapidly turning into a liberal, tree hugging gimme state. I've lived here all my life, and the change has been tremendous.
To those whiners about "I have to live close to where I work", STFU. Be a man. I moved from the Nashua area to Grafton 10 years ago. During most of that time I worked in Stoneham and Middleton. Money wise even with gas factored in, I broke about even. I retired 3 months ago and am way ahead now.

I live here ( Marblehead Ma ) because of stubbornness. I grew up here. My family's been here since at least the early 1700's. My parents were proud of the family history , revolutionary war heros , sons of Liberty members , bootleggers, business owners , and veterans of all our wars.

Now I am surrounded by libtard a , socialists , Obama drones , trophy wives , lifetime democrats who will argue why Republicans are Evil and Libertarians are crazy but have never heard of Fast n Furious , IRS weaponization , NSA scandals , ....

I'm about done here. Have land in Maine , kids in college , am semi self employed .... Not much left to keep me here.

Excuses excuses. My brother in law lives in Exeter and goes into Siddyabossin every day. The train ride is cheaper and faster than taking his car. Where there is a will...

My wife supports me wanting I move to NH.

Starting a new job Monday, saving up as much as I can.

Work is the only thing setting me back. But I figured I can find a place in NH and travel to west springfield MA for a few weeks. I. The mean time look for a job in NH

I have a question for all the people experiencing freedom living in NH..

Being all free and stuff, are you subjected to federal laws and taxes..Do you guys have to pay for Obamacare ? [smile]

If my job was in or near NH,I would move there...Right now time is too valuable to me to spend it commuting..You can always make more money, but you can't make more time.

Being old sucks..LOL

I guess I have gotten to the point where I don't give a damn anymore..No matter what state I am in I am still governed by idiots elected by idiots..

The country is spiraling down the rabbit hole and there is no saving it,I'm just here to watch it all go down on my HDTV while eating Gelato.

If n.h. Is so free,
why did my non res.
carry license go from $10 to $100?

I don't know what your complaining about if it was really fair they would make you pay $100.00 a YEAR then take a day off from work to go apply for your license every year. After they did that not let you buy any ammunition you find even though they sold you the license.

Hey, if Mass can tax the crap out of you, so can we. If it's too expensive, just vote with your wallet and don't renew. Just like I do with a MA non-res LTC. I just don't go anywhere near that commie shithole, so I don't need a LTC from them.
My LICENSE (because we don't need a PERMISSION here) cost me a whopping $2.50/year, and I got it without submitting fingerprints, or writing a letter why I want to exercise a right guaranteed to me by the constitution of the US of A. I just filled out a 1 page form with a few basic Infos, and had a copper friggin deliver my license to my friggin door 3 friggin days later. Until then, I just carried my gun on my hip in plain sight, and there were no crying children, nobody called the police, actually, nobody even seemed to take notice. And because it takes money to keep this state as free as it is, we make m*******s pay lots of dollars, instead of taking it from the NH residents.

Thats why.

Some people do have a valid excuse for not being able to move. One, the housing market sucks and we can't sell. More importantly, we have permanent custody of our nephew through the courts. We can't legally move to NH [hmmm] At least for now

I have had about enough of Mass too.. but move to New Hampshire? Don't think so, too damn cold and too many Mass libs moving there. When my kid is out of high school we will be heading south. Plenty of good places to live south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Offical NES excuse list;
I have family here.
My kids are in school.
My girlfriend / wife won't let me.
I can't sell my house. Read: won't.
I can't commute to my job in Ma. Read: I really don't want to move.
I can make a difference in Ma. ! You're all cowards who are running away !
I can't make enough money in NH. Read: I'm willing to sacrifice freedom for comfort.

So what's yours ? [laugh]

It is not so easy to move. I work in the city, and I'm not commuting from NH to Boston, and paying higher property tax and income tax. Then my girl would have to quit her job in the south shore and find a new job...
One day I will be in NH, but right now it is not the time for me.
For now, I just buy everything up there, and my parents do the same....and try not to cry when I drive back into this sh@t hole.

We have permanent guardianship of our granddaughter. in 2007 I accepted a position in Arizona, all we had to do was go to the court, explain our position. The court granted our request to relocate with the caveat that we would file in Az after establishing residency out there
