I tried to buy a 22 rifle from Dicks Sporting Goods in N. Attleboro as my first purchase last Sunday.
The kid told me this morning, (very rudely, and without checking) that they had not heard back from the Feds, and their policy is to not release any guns until they hear back from the Feds. I politely asked him how long this can take. He rudely said if they don't hear back within one day, it's usually bad news.
I guess Dicks policy is also to hire "Dicks"..

IMO there are plenty of other local gun stores that would be happy to sell you .22 rifles. I wouldnt waste my money at Dicks when like you said all you get are dicks "helping" you with your purchase.

Problem #1, you bought from Dicks Sporting Goods
Problem #2, you bought from Dicks Sporting Goods
Problem #3, you expect customer service to be good at Dicks Sporting Goods
Problem #4, this is about the 15th thread on Dicks Sporting Goods

Complain to his manager, then his manager's manager. That usually will set the little shit straight.

BS, I would go there. If you dont hear anything back after like 5 days or something, you can take possession of the firearm. I had this happen to me with my first purchase, they never called back and after 5 days I went and finished the sale and took my handgun home. My second one was also delayed, but they called back in a few days and I was able to get my first AR. Then the 3rd at NSF they gave me the pamphlet to get my fed number, had to get my 10 card done at the Danvers Police barracks and it took only about 2 weeks to get my number in the mail. Now I have gone into a store, even the Dick's in Nashua, and was able to walk out with my rifle in hand. If you are getting the delays I would look into getting your number, or it could just be a lag in the system from all the recent stupidity.

I totally agree with you, but when you see a Savage Axis in 30-06 for only $250, I really had to just jump on that deal.

Oh by the way all my firearms have either been purchased from 2 people on here, or from Northshore Firearms or Fourseasons.

This kid didn't even ask me my name, for starters...

AFAIK, if they don't hear back from the Fibbies after 3 days, they can sell you the gun.

My advice to you is to get back any money you may have given them and go to an LGS - Local Gun Shop. And tell their store manager exactly WHY you won't be patronizing them in the future - because they're making up their own "laws".

I bought one firearm at Dicks. Only because it was cheap as hell. The Benelli Super Black Eagle II is usually $1600ish, but it was on clearance for $1199. So I went to Concord NH on my way up to my place near Loon Mt.

Their policy sucks and they escorted the shotgun to the front door! Like really ? Unless they have a super clearance like that again , I won't be buying anything from them.

i was laughing my ass off when they were doing that, i've bought like three guns there i think.

"you really don't need to walk with me. i can handle it."

"store policy, sir."

"under my coat i have a glock with 17 rounds in the mag, and one in the chamber. should i be the one holding it at least?"

silence.

[laugh]

It's 3 business days, but they don't have to transfer the firearm...

If the FFL has not received from the NICS a final determination after 3 business days have
elapsed since the delay response, it is within the FFL’s discretion whether or not to transfer the firearm
(if state law permits the transfer). If the FFL transfers the firearm, the FFL must note “no resolution
was provided within 3 business days” on line 21d of the ATF Form 4473. (Please refer to pages
24 and 25 of the FBI NICS FFL User Manual.)

Are these delays "customer/store specific"?? I just picked up a shotgun on Wednesday night at a local shop, no delay. Picked up a handgun a couple weeks ago at another local shop, no delay.

I think it is name or social security number specific, or maybe even both. My father, grandfather and I all share the same name so I was told that could have been why. Not to sure though but I got my number and haven't had any trouble now buying anything. Yes it was both northshore and fourseasons that I had to wait the 4 days to get my firearm.
