I should've bought a 9mm a Long time ago!

OK, I'm a non-conformist. I have handguns in a dozen calibers but until last week, I did not have a 9mm. Well, I've had one but haven't shot it - I have a Norinco 213 that I bought as part of a lot of 3 because I wanted the other 2; it was unfired when I bought it, still is and will be when I sell it, which'll be as soon as possible (see the "Classifieds" section if you're interested).

Anyway, I bought a hardly used S&W 5906 w/3 hi-cap mags, & box from PJohn on this forum (Thanks, it shoots awesome). I have a thing for the all-stainless S&W 3rd generation autos, and was looking for a 5906 at a decent price.

I stopped off at Dick's in Leominster on the way home from work to get some ammo and they had Remington 9mm 115gr FMJ for $5.98 for a box of 50 !! I bought ten boxes.

Apparently, at Dick's that's a significant ammo purchase. As I was paying, everyone was looking at me like I was one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Of course, I was the only one not buying something made out of spandex that wicked moisture.

I can't believe that 9mm is that cheap! Unless I decide to cast my own bullets, I can't make ammo for that much. What have I been thinking? I should've jumped on this whole 9mm bandwagon a long time ago.

I carry a G30 and never relized how expensive ammo really was until I went to the range a couple times. I then bought a G17 that came with 1300 rds. Boy, does it go fast, but it's a heck of a lot easier to replenish.

Yeah, those are pretty good bullets, and a hell of a deal. I bought 40 boxes myself. I had a whole shopping cart full of bullets and gun stuff. No one really looked at me odd until the cashier yelled "how much is the discount for two cases of bullets??!" (10% was the answer). Got some looks after that, but no big.

I'm going back then. I didn't realize there was a case discount.

Yea, Dick's does case discounts. At least they do on Shotgun shells. I pick them up by the case when they are on sale all the time.
