It's not even an original approach. A few years back when David Dinkins was mayor of NYC, there was a stabbing that for some reason got big coverage. When the reporters asked hizhonur about it, he responded that it showed the need for tougher gun control laws. As Mr Spock once said "Logic is a pretty flower that smells bad."
