I always loved that book. I also always expect step two to lead to some interesting conversations between a new recruit and his sergeant.

Did you check the chamber for ammo?
Yes Sergent, there was a round in there all right.
So what did you do about it?
Well, nothing sarge, it just said to check.


Sarge, my rifle won't break open!
Son, why is your bolt locked back?
Well, it said to retract the bolt to check the chamber, it never said to let it run forward again!

those are from PS magazine, its like a comic book that comes out monthly in the army and talks about current issues with equipment.

i used to like reading them, you can find some interesting stuff in them
