How to adjust the trigger pull of the 1895 Nagant revolver

Just got a 1895 Nagant in a trade and its a pretty good revolver to shoot.

Only thing I didn't care for was the 20 pound trigger pull! (LOL)

I looked around to see if anything could be done to decrease the pull without permanently modifying the revolver.

Found this method on the Surplus Rifle Forum

Basically you can put a nut, bullet, heck even a shaved piece of wood under the v spring to take off tension and reduce the trigger pull!

Anyone ever try it or something like it?

Looks like I may have a project for the weekend!

I have one and saw this as well. I read somewhere elso that doing this improperly can case the spring to break

I just got me one of these....the thread within the link provided by the OP is really good and there are steps you can take to eliminate the spring breakage issue

1928 Double action and yes there have been reports about breaking springs.

My thought is to make a wood tapered elevated ramp under the spring.

That way no rough, sharp corners and it could be sanded down to find a nice spot.

Start out with various size balsa wood 'shims" then when I found shape/pull that worked for me make it out of some hard wood.

Yep, fabricate a small piece to fit your gun and you're done!

Isn't the trigger so heavy because it's pushing the entire cylinder forward?
