How do I list a firearm for sale in classifieds?

There is no excuse for members trying to fleece other members. I know it has been stated before you don't have to purchase, however there are newer members that may not know what current fair pricing is and may be more desperate to obtain certain firearms and not fully versed in fair pricing. Not thinking that a NES member would be trying to take advantage of there limited buying knowledge.
This is goofy and a dangerous way of thinking. Who should determine what is fair? You? The government? When I want a gun or anything else thats hard to find and I want it bad enough I'll pay whatever someone is asking.... even if its 2x what someone paid last week because I want it now and I can. Why is that a problem and why shouldn't the seller be able to sell it for what I'm willing to pay?

So apparently it’s only a free market if your a long standing member who posts a lot? The OP is playing by the rules so good luck to him. As far as new members or new gun owners are concerned I recently sold a few Glocks to 0 post “Newbs” they asked a ton of questions and were not shy to talk me down a few bucks off my $700 asking price either.

What would you consider a fair price on that rifle?

$1350-1500 depending on the condition in MA. $700-900 depending on the condition out of state. Ammo and attachments will make it more desirable, and will naturally bump you above that upper limit.

ETA: I just forgot I have seen your ad. Now the price, given the attachments/accessories, is within line with my original comment.

hi and thanks! To answer your question, I’m selling about 30 guns. If you give me your email I’ll gladly fwd the list to you (I don’t want to retype the whole list)
Suggestion: You should list them all in one thread with a picture or two for each item. This way, big ballers browsing the forums will see multiple they like, and may buy a couple or more in one shot from you. For example: All pistols in one thread under the pistol section. All long guns in the applicable thread (rifle/shotgun). Then, when there are stragglers, delete the thread and reform it into a couple threads with categories. Example: 40 Cal Semis. S&W wheel guns, etc. Price them justly and give the people deals and you will thin the herd in no time!

You sound like a communist. Go get your sociology degree for $330,000 and get a job making $26,000. Good luck with your socialist ideals. You are part of the problem! Stop being part of the problem, Dwayne!! ;)

"Glass?! Glass?! Who the &%$% gives a sh&% about Glass?!"

Lol, how is someone else being uninformed about market prices our problem? Further some people don't care and wanted it yesterday. Otherwise we wouldn't have insanity like shitty u notch mags going for $100+. The "aggressive value seeking in all corners" days of pre sandy hook are long gone. Nobody is holding a gun to their head to buy it. Unless there's a mentally disabled or senile elderly person as the buyer, i have a difficult time getting upset watching adults fleece themselves paying too much for something. It's not like there's a lack of sources for pricing. Just because they're noobs doesn't excuse gun simping behavior on their part. It's not our fault that their only exposure is deli ticket emporium, etc.

Also happy fun ball time- I've spent hours trying to tell people how to get stuff for less and many of them never listen to my directions. They take the meek way out and pay the shit price because they're too lazy. After awhile one becomes cynical and doesn't care anymore, lazy people who set themselves up to fail get what they deserve- its just a different form of psgwsp, except it's more like psgwos... win overpriced shit. [laugh]

Not a socialist my only point was I didn't think it was right for a member to try and take advantage of another member. I don't care how much someone would want to price outside the forum I would say go for it and ask as much as you think you can get. I was only making a point about our own forum. I had no idea it would cause such a ruckus and even name calling. I am sorry for being concerned about our forum community. So F it.

Thanks for all the comments! How do I “bump” an ad?? Yes I put the SW MP15 at a stratospheric price (2600!) just to see what would happen, basic economics of supply and demand. Surprisingly got a lot of people interested mostly newly licensed so definitely a demand but price is too high. I want to take it down to $1,800 which is still a great return for me. I’m a little older, 29 years in the army, recently divorced, with an almost 100 firearm collection. I don’t have to sell any of it but probably going to move (within Ma) in a year or two so would like to drop my collection down to about 30 guns that I actually shoot and can’t live without. Carry guns and tactical stuff priced a little higher due to the recent market conditions. the AR is very high. But I have some normal stuff I’ll let go normal fair prices To people who know what they’re looking at and appreciate it like a mint condition Ruger No. 1 in rare 7x57 Mauser with Burris scope, reloading dies, new brass in bag, once fired brass deprimed and tumbled, plus an assortment of boxed bullets(not complete cartridges). SW 52-2 wadcutter, pinned barrel smith .357 stainless and a bunch more. Give me your email and I’ll fwd you the list I sent out to my pistol team. If you could tell me how to bump an ad that would be great Thanks!

You will get a bad rep asking retard prices. People make a mental note and likely won't deal with you even after lowering the price.

Another guy that would, unless he is a hypocrite, sell me 1oz gold coins he bought for $120 an ounce years ago for $120 each.

Try this...I hear you can get at least $200, more if you stole the gun to begin with..[rofl]

I've sold one pistol here, and I've sold one revolver out-of-state to an FFL and finally end consumer, using gunbroker.com
Gunbroker will likely fetch you a higher price. This is a good market here, but it's limited.
It takes two to tango, as the saying goes. Seller should put a fair, attractive price on their item. Buyer should not necessarily expect $ 0.05 on the $ of original price. One golden rule of sales for the seller is, if it is worth it, but you're getting "cheaped", "bitched-at", "chiseled"...pull it off the table and sell to someone/somewhere else.

A guy asks for a little help and in swoops the NES police to chide him for his prices. He didn't ask for an appraisal. Why not give the advice being sought and keep the commentary to one's self? There is no one being "fleeced" here and no one being gouged. The man isn't selling the only medicine, food, or clean water in New England for prices only a small group can pay. They're collectable things. Relax and go find your incredible deals.

I wonder if the same folks admonishing a guy for asking too much would hurry and offer him more than asking price if he asked to little. Do the ethics work both ways or only if YOU don't get the better end of the deal.

I don't have alot of posts on here either. I hope my internet forum status is enough to let me be heard at the big boy table.

In the vacuum of presence, egos certainly abound.
