This is a bed side lock box I made as a Christmas gift for my daughter. It's all red oak pinned and glued. But for the hinges there are no screws or nails. No modern fasteners at all. I think it came out nice and she liked it so that's all that counts.

The locking mechanism is a pad lock cut apart and buried into the wood. I used my router table with a 1/2 inch stright bit. I only had to make two attempts at it. I hit it dead on the second time. It took me 25 hours to do the job. There was much more work here that I ever thought!!! The smile on her face was worth every hour!!!

Nice job. She'll have that forever and remember you every time she uses it.

I'd love to see how you routed that padlock in. Very clever.
