Nope, ..I really don't see a pattern here to justify profiling, do you? So, to ensure we Americans never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, airport security screeners will no longer be allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the President's security detail, 85-year old Congressmen with metal hips, and Medal of Honor winning and former Governor Joe Foss, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

Let's send this to as many people as we can so that the Gloria Aldreds and other dunder-headed attorneys along with Federal Justices that want to thwart common sense, feel doubly ashamed of themselves -- if they have any such sense. As the writer of the award winning story "Forrest Gump" so aptly put it, "Stupid is as stupid does."

Come on people, wake up!!! Keep this going. Pass it on to everyone in your address book. Our Country and our troops need our support.

And guess who just bombed London?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am all for it, if it will help homeland security, prevent attacks, save American lives why the hell are we not profiling. Oh that is right it has to get by the Left wings, ACLU, and NAACP, and that will never happen.

A-f***ING men!

Profiling HAS a right and prudent place in todays world. Anyone who thinks that the searches that the NY police are conducting and allowing suspicious men to turn around and run without being chased are working or worth wile they are naive.

An example. You have to walk down an alley at night. There are 2 alleys to choose from. One has young Latino men wearing blue bandannas standing watching you, the other has a group of nuns headed to the rectory near the end of the alley. Both will get you to where you want to go, what one will you take?
If you said the one with the nuns... Guess what??? You have just profiled!

I don't care who you are, profiling on a daily basis from aware people is a good tool that keeps us safe.

While I feel sorry for innocent victims of profiling (how many times have you seen a black guy in a suit driving a nice car pulled over by no less than 2 cops? Puhleeze) I do think that it has its place.

How many 55 year old white women are going to be wearing a bomb vest into a subway station?

Yes, profiling is a way of upholding stereotypes, but if it can prevent murder and mayhem I don't see why it's wrong.

The STUPIDIST case of DUMB searches was when my Brother-in-law was on his way back to Kuwait, after R&R in April. I made the mistake of seeing him to his gate.

He was dressed in DCU's (Desert Uniform) and I was dressed in my BDU's. Guess who got searched and had to take off their boots?

Yup, BOTH of us. I guess they were just so worried about 2 National Guardsmen hijacking the airplane.

Profiling can be good, as long as it's used properly. IMNSHO, it should only be used PRIOR to a crime, not to solve one.

The "DC Sniper" was a case where it wasn't used properly. They were looking for a "white guy in a white van" (they've watched too much TV), and ignored the evidence. Needless to say, the perp's weren't white, and used a car, so that profiling was way off.

I find it funny how there is acceptable profiling and unacceptable profiling in this country. For instance if there is a serial killer on the loose in a city for a while, the PD will get a profile from the FBI about that type of person to help find the killer (no one has a problem with this). I consider terrorists serial killers (9-11-01) but profiling for these serial killers cannot be done, the only difference I know of here is with the terrorists you are not profiling 1 single person but a group and I guess that is where people have an issue (too bad, soooooo sad), but hell it drives me nuts

Not all muslims are terrorists, but so far all terrorists have been muslims
-- Jay Severin

It's worth mentioning that WE aren't profiling when we choose to search middle eastern men. We're only reacting.

The Muslim's are the one's who are prejudiced. They're only recruiting middle eastern (and pakistani) men to their cause. As soon as they start recruiting 55 year old white grannies, we should adapt and search the grannies as well. Until then, it's wasted police effort.

>Not all muslims are terrorists, but so far all terrorists have been muslims

Yeah, they sure made things tough in Ireland...

I've pointed this out to Jay before, but he finds it convenient to keep forgetting it.

I don't revall any testimony indicating that Tim McVeigh was part of dar-al-Islam.
Same goes to any of the BATF or FBI at either Ruby Ridge or Waco.
Ditto Randy Weaver and the Branch Davidians, if you swing that way.
For those of us old enough, I'll throw in Bader-Menhoff, the Brigata Rossa and the Sendero Luminoso.
The IRA have already been mentioned, so I'll mentiontheir counterparts, the UDA.

Oh, and BTW, they're not just using young males of middle eastern extraction. There was after all the case of the red headed, blue eyed young, pregnant Irish lass, whose boyfriend had given her some Semtex as a going away present before she tried to board her flight. They're smart enough to use whatever they think will work, and have been for a long time.

That doesn't mean that our primary adversaries at the moment aren't Islamo-Fascists, but let's not lose site of all the others goblins skulking around in the shadows for the moment.

Racial profiling may be legal for the NYPD now to help protect the transit system in NY, due to the recent London bombings. It sucks for muslims in the city that are honest working americans, but it will definitely make it harder for terrorists to perform their operations. I would be surprised if this bill passes.

Ken,
But weren't the Israelis smart enough using profiling to see that something wasn't right about that red haired Irish lady late in her pregnancy flying alone to search her and find the explosives?
Profiling doesn't specifically mean racial profiling, but rather using a set criteria of things/behaviors that are suspicious and deserve a little extra attention. I do hate to admit it, but we are living in a much different time now. I understand that it will take me a little extra time when I go to the airport, and I will accept having to take off my shoes, belt, and jacket. I accept the fact that I might be stopped for the random search at the gate. An inconvenience? Yes, but I plan ahead for these things, and hope that these little now necessary things will keep me just a little bit safer.

Adam

Absolutely. My point was that you don't do yourself a damn bit of good by having a so-called profile that either targets all young males of middle east backgrounds or by one that limits itself to such persons. A good profile take into account age, sex, ethnicity and a heck of a lot of other things, particularly behavior. Not all young Muslim males are terrorists; not all terrorists are young Muslim males.
