New member in Mass *ugh* but an old Marine shooter, these laws are a tad squirrelly. I was looking to get an HK 45 which is Mass compliant huzzah, but was also looking at the USP in 45, which doesnt look like its on the list, yet other calibers are. Also apparently newer glocks are LEO only yet they are on the "approved" list.... gaaah no wonder why people here just buy baseball bats. My main question though is about the USP .45 as it is the same pistol basically but a couple hundred dollars cheaper :)

Welcome to the forum Devil Dog. Old 03 Marine here.

1. You can get any handgun you want in Mass.

2. I knew a guy that was a meber too, but with therapy and counciling, he was able to overcome it.

3. Become a green member. It is worth it. Stick around. Most of us are dicks... but we are your kind of dicks. [grin]

Rep Points in bound just for showing up

I saw that one, so is it a case of it being in state before a certain year or that the USP 45 is mass compliant, I now the mag size is bigger than a standard HK45, and dont worry fencer I have not gone astray from my 1911 ways just seeing what the new kids have

Don't worry about a gun being MA compliant. You can find just about anything you want, although you might have to pay a MA premium on some. You should have brought one in when you moved into MA.

Loool that would have been 25 years ago when I left the Corps, I was living in a BLACK town but bought a house in a very green town so the gun fairies have blessed me

So, basically, if a guy owns a gun he can sell it to you whether it is on the list or not. So lets say your buddy used to live in New Hampshire and bought a new Sig 227. He can bring it if he moves to Mass, totally legal. If he wants to sell it to you that is also totally legal. Even if he bought it last week.

Or, your buddy is a cop and bought a brand new Glock. If he decides he doesn't want it he can sell it to you. What he can't do is buy if FOR you. That is a straw purchase.

Magazines in Mass are a totally different story. That is where date of manufacture comes into play.

So basically, you can have any gun you want, but it may take a while to find it and cost a bit more.

Since you are new, you might like to know that if you hit the "Edit Post" button and then the "Go Advanced" button when you get there, you can edit the title... Welcome to the forum. [thumbsup]

Welcome aboard USMC5816. Glad you haven't gone astray. Like you I've tried what the new kids have. I've had pretty much all of them. While keeping a good representation of 1911's on hand at all times, I came to the realization that todays technology has brought the 9mm bullet to a place of much respect, I wanted a firearm for it that was reliable, easy to use, lightweight, and fairly easy to replace parts if need be. After trying all of the easy and not so easy to find handguns, I chose the Glock 19. It carries well, is easy to shoot, and in general is a great bug out handgun, should the situation arise. Since the old ways die hard, I also maintain a Glock 21 and a Glock 30S, but that's just me. Happy hunting. Looking for the right one for you is half of the fun. There's always an NES member that's interested in selling what you're looking for.
