The 51st Troop Command regrets to announce the passing of SFC Robert F. Campbell.

SFC Robert F. Campbell, 48 of Holliston died suddenly Monday, April 9, 2018.

He is lovingly survived by his wife Joan Gavini-Campbell of Holliston and his children Connor and Julia. He is also survived by his mother Sharon Campbell of Maine, his sister Christine Kirby and her husband Eric of Medway, his parents- in-law Lawrence and Kathleen Gavini of Wareham, his sister-in-law Sharon Reilly and her husband Stephen of Newton, four nephews, two nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his brothers and sisters in service.

Robert was born in Marlborough on August 24, 1969. He grew up in Cochituate, and graduated from Wayland High School in 1988. After high school Rob enlisted in the Army. He went to Basic Training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, Medic Training at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, and Airborne Training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. He was then stationed and completed his four year service in Bremen, Germany. Robert completed five tours of service for his country. He served in the Gulf War and at Guantanamo Bay. He was deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom with both the 1/181st Infantry Regiment and the 772 Military Police Company. Robert was a full time member (AGR) of the 51st Troop Command in Wellesley, MA. He was the recipient of Expert Field Medical Badge, Combat Field Medical Badge with star and the Army Commendation Medal for Valor.

Robert’s dedication to service was beyond measure, but it was surpassed by his love for his family. Joan and Robert were married for 23 years, they shared a love of laughter and the New England Patriots. Rob was so happy going to the shooting range with his son and watching his daughter crush times in the pool. He loved dark coffee, country music, and hanging out at home. They will forever cherish their memories of him, he was a wonderful husband and father.

Visiting hours in the Magni FH, 365 Watertown St, Rt. 16, Newton, Wed, April 18 from 2-4 and 5-8pm. Burial with full military honors Thurs, April 19 at 11:30AM at MA National Cemetery, Bourne (Cape Cod).
