Was driving my mom into work this morning because of the snow and heard comedien Lenny Clarke talk about torture and Abu Garcia prison.

'How can they call what went on at Abu Garcia prison as torture. So they made them wear womens panties on their heads and put leashes around their necks. Hell, I've done worse in junior high. But they call us barbaric and torturers, yet they call the group that beheads people and hangs them from tree's as 'misunderstood'.

The end of the comedy bit hit home for me because its pretty sad that for some thats exactly what they think and firmly beleive it.

I dont understand what the problem is with totruring these people.
they are NOT SOLDIERS.. they do not wear a uniform and represent no goverment body or country.
therefore they arent welcome to any special treatment.
soldiers get (or should get) special treatment becuase they wear a uniform and fight under and in the name of a flag..
terrorists deserve whatever they get coming to them..

I can not believe how much monday quarterbacking is being done on this.

I'm sorry the guy had a problem and was off his medication, and his wife had no control over him, and he said things and did things that got himself killed, but even knowing all this, given the short amount of time the marshals had, they MADE THE RIGHT DECISON!

As with any shooting, the defender has to make the decision in a split second, the jury and public opinion get the luxury of all the time they want.

Same deal with the tourture thing. You need to get information from these people to save lives. Do all these liberal bleeding hearts like to explain to the families of the dead that we didn't know about the terrorist who blew up their kids because we didn't want to stress out the other terrorists we've captured?

In the grand scheme of things, humiliation, shoving a book into a toilet, and other so-called torture is pretty freaking mild compared to the tactics our enemies use.

I'd like to see one of these liberal bleeding hearts stand face to face with the surviving mother of 9/11 victim and explain why the captured terrorist should be treated nice while her son or daugher is dead.

So easy to judge the actions of others when you didn't have to make the choices.

As far as torturing known terrorists/insurgents. I'm all for it. If it saves one of OUR guys over there or someone over here it is worth it for me. These people have a choice to do what they do. They are not being forced.

OK, here's the situation.

The insurgents are "Unlawful Combatants" per the Geneva Convention, therefore, not protected by it.

The ONLY thing that stops torture by the military is the fact that US Military is prohibited from torturing prisoners. This is from the Uniform Code of Military Justice. This does NOT apply to the CIA in any way.

Therefore, if members of the military "torture" prisoners, they are wrong. If the CIA tortures prisoners, tough shit for the prisoner. It's that simple.
