Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey signed a proclamation recognizing September 28, 2024 as National Hunting and Fishing Day and urged all citizens of the Commonwealth to take cognizance of this event and participate fittingly in its observance. To this day, the Massachusetts Department of Fish and Game is funded, in part, by sportsmen and women, through the American System of Conservation Funding. In 2023, Massachusetts’ sportsmen and women generated more than $24 million to support the Department’s conservation efforts. More than 330,000 hunters and anglers support the state’s economy through their spending more than $600 million while engaged in their pursuits.

James: you are not a very effective spokesperson for GOAL.

Meh- looking at hunting and fishing as activities separate from 2A, the proclamation is a positive. Lefties generally despise hunting and fishing because 'feelz' and don't recognize that wildlife and fisheries benefit greatly from managed hunting and fishing. If she were pandering to her typical base she would have taken the PETA stance. Yes, I know her 2A stance is a PITA to the degree that it hinders hunting with firearms which of course makes the 'proclamation' duplicitous.

June 14 is national bourbon day. If Maura affirms a proclamation for that, is everyone going to boycott bourbon?

I clutched my pearls a little tighter

What a joke.
You may never come across a state less friendly to hunters and fisherman.
The Wardens in this state have been on a mission for most of my lifetime to make it so miserable to enjoy the sport many people just throw in the towel rather than deal with them.
I had to go to court (and won) to fight a citation for discharging a firearm too close to a dwelling and didn't even have gun .
Isn't that special.
That was almost the final straw for me, but after rethinking it I said f*ck them , they weren't going to win.
I could write a book on the misery those asshats have inflicted just on people I know in this state.

Nowhere did she imply or say that hunting was to be with a gun. You're making a huge leap here. 😎

Those stats are going to take a hit from the new law unless most hunters continue to hunt in ignorance of the changes (and unless most wardens don't enforce it, too).

Wait till they start arresting and confiscating the guns of FID card holders that are still using semi-auto rifles and shottys.
