Heading for Antietam later this month

Officers of 3-7 Cav during the mid 80’s are having another reunion at Gettysburg.

This year, we are arriving Thursday so we can visit the Antietam battlefield, about an hour away in Maryland.

Currently reading “Landscape Turned Red” which details the state of the conflict leading up to that battle, and the many internal and international pressures at play.

Today! The 17th was the 160th anniversary. We are meeting at the visitor center at 8:30.

This was a great visit.

Gettsyburg is so big and complex it is overwhelming. Antietam you can see most of the battlefield from one place, and more clearly understand the actions of the units.

But what a bloooodbath!
