    Anyone remember Fred Flintstone at the old Marlboro registry in the 80's?
    What a character. They should have sculpted a bust of him or something.

    Absolute worst ass backwards state agency in existence. And I lived through the days where every hoisting license in the state was processed by two people in a tiny little office. The Rmv is staffed by clueless idiots who won’t listen to anything you have to say. My situation is slightly unique so I double and triple check my work every single time before I go and always bring everything I need and a little more just in case. They always screw up can’t figure it out and then insist YOU call medical affairs to fix their mistakes. Call and call and never get answers. They actually had me trying to track down a guy in medical affairs who had retired five years earlier. Absolute morons.

    Was he a Registry cop? You could always tell registry and MDC cops after they were all rolled in to the State Police, it seemed that neither one of the groups had any type of health requirement.

    Yup. Went to get my driving record. They gave me some shmucks record who’s name and address wasn’t even close to mine. Took three steps away from the counter and realized the mistake. Turned back only to have the arrogant dumb bitch tell me they were closed and to come back tomorrow. Then called the gestapo over to push me out the door. The guys record was at least 25 pages long full of moving violations and all kinds of crazy infractions. The unbelievable part was his cdl was still valid. They have sent me three copies of this deadbeats driving record to my address so far since. Unbelievable

    In the initial years you could tell by the car number - I think MDC/Reg converted card had an extra digit. The ones that got in via the MSP academy were called RTs by at least one cop (RT :== Real Trooper)

    Nope, desk worker.

    Although I do remember a Marlboro Registry cop who looked just like
    the uniformed cop from Barney Miller who was always popping upstairs,
    angling for a promotion.

    (Well, being a Registry cop at the time,
    you have to imagine him with just a tetch more regalia;
    but you get the general idea).

    I had a similar time in Springfield. I went in for a REAL ID license and was out in ten minutes after dealing with three smiling women.

    It was actually a pleasant experience.

    I was helping an Indian friend (techie, not casino) help with getting a car in the DPRM. When we went into the registry, one of the office people saw us in line, came up and invited us into her office to take care of the registration. All went very smoothly.

    The biggest surprise my Indian friend had was that he didn't have to tip or bribe anyone to get his business taken care of.

    How about the affirmative action hire in the Brockton / Roxbury South RMV axing me how can I afford to register a new car without there being a lien on it? Should have ripped her a new big backside but I just wanted to get the hell out of there quickly because I felt like I was in the middle of a gangbanger meeting.

    A month late, but I have to compliment the RMV. . . for allowing me to renew my lic. at AAA last month. In and out. No shenanigans. Although there WAS a line by the time I left. The lady in front of me took about 10 min. I was done in 2. ????? Fill out your renewal BEFORE you get there, people!

    Do not just ignore this. If they still think you have a license they might expire/suspend it, and due to inter-state agreements the expiration/suspension may be transmitted to your own (new) state which may automatically suspend your current license. I think this happened to Michael Graham - I think they even arrested him when he was pulled over and it took a lot to figure it out. Also but maybe not in your case - when your license is suspended the RMV notifies your insurance company which then suspends both the car registration and car insurance. I was on a jury once where they charged a guy with (1) driving without a license (2) driving an unregistered vehicle, (3) driving with no insurance. It was a cascade effect - guilty on all counts. I would have forced a different outcome today.
