I have a chipmunk or squirrel that is having a field day in my garden. Anyone know a store in the Manchester nh area to buy one? I want to get a small one so I don't catch our cats.

P.s. my "heart" is just fine "dispensing" with the little terror. Catch and release is not an option for this enemy of mine.

Did you know they make them for mice too? Had no idea, my mum showed me the 3 she's got and already caught one so far. Not sure where she got, maybe dodge grain.

Home Despot and Lowe's carry them. You'll want a smaller one for the chipmunks and cats are too big for it. Put some sunflower seed in the trap end to attract the rodents. Put a weight, like a bit of firewood, on top of it, so the critters can't easily knock it over.

I put water (and a bit of bleach) in a 55 gal trash can. When I catch a chipmunk, I dunk the whole cage in the water -- no noise from a shot and no risk of a ricochet.

We've caught 63 chipmunks so far this season.

Get a five gallon bucket full of water to "store" your trap after you catch something.
All chipmunk traps made by have a heart won't fit in a 5 gallon bucket.

Home Depot has have a heart traps, I would get a double door trap as well. Also Tomahawk traps are a lot nicer then have a hearts. They spring easyier and tend to trap better.

That's why I use a 55 gal trash barrel filled with water.

I found this out the hard way when I had a chipmunk problem in the spring. Luckily one of my wife's bins for storing Christmas ornaments was the perfect size for the trap! I think we have a new saying, "As easy as shooting a rodent in a have-no-heart trap."

Has anyone tried taking a bucket, filling it 3/4 full of water, and pouring in some sunflower seeds to float around the top and then having the rodents jump in and drown?

Peanut butter is irresistible.

Yes, it works well. I think it was 9 chipmunks before we headed off for vacation. Time to reset the trap.

Only problem was squirrel hanging his rear paws over the bucket and cleaning up all the seeds, plus the squirrel knocking the wood off. Plan to stake the wood in on both sides to prevent that when I get the chance.
