Army Chief of Staff General James Mcconville (a Quincy boy) suggested a 2.45 mile run for the Army’s 245th birthday today.

Instead I hiked 2.45 miles up Mount Sunapee to watch the sunrise. Because nothing says “Army” like being on the move before BMNT. Time lapse doesn’t seem to work I’ll try hosting.

the army...aren't those the guys that go in after the marines...never mind...

I'll never forget driving from Skopje to TAA Bondsteel to secure a FARP and, as we motored along through the hills of southern Kosovo, we passed a line of pissed-off looking marines from the 26th MEU, pulled off the right side of the road in their cook whites and unsecured chinstraps, glaring at us as we drove by. They'd jumped the gun, it seemed, and been halted by NATO because our guys had already air-assaulted in the day before.

They were SO pissed they had to let us by.
