Have any of you tried H335 for 55gr fmj in .223? If so how is it?

I know different rifles, twist and etc. Just wondering if it is worth running up a test batch.

Yup. It’s all I use for 55 gr loads.

It’s a flashy powder but I don’t mind that lol.

I've used it for 55 gr bullets.

I found I got more consistent results with 335 when I used magnum primers. Has anybody else seen this?

I have been using 335 and hornady bulk 55s hitting just over 3100fps. I use them for CMP games matches. They have shot trinket award scores almost everytime.
They will shoot moa for the most part, when I do anyway.
i might try some 69 grain with 335?
Im so used to varget though. 24 grains under almost every 223 load in my AR does well. From 50-80 grain bullets.
The 80s need a little more work.

@mac1911 how many grains do you use?

I just reloaded a batch of 5.56 up to 25.6gr of H335. (remember 5.56 is hotter than .223). Loaded qty 50 and another 50 with X-terminator up to 26.3gr (per published load data). all 2.220" COAL
Going to compare both.

I also like Varget for heaver loads (>65gr) but most loads will be compressed and you will not get the velocity you will get with CFE-223, H335 or X-Term.

Check out Johnny's reloading video's on You tube if you haven't already. He has 66 video's just on 5.56/.223 load development.

unrelated but I bough the updated lee auto drum for my pro1000 and it does not leak the small ball powders! Also bough Lees updated primer tray and feed system , it works!
I load 99% of my 55 grain loads on the pro1000 and 335 and what ever other powder Im trying to get rid of

Interesting, I almost bought some H335 a little while back. Maybe I'll give it a try now that I'm loading 223 again.

I shot a couple of 1" groups @ 100 yards yesterday, while sighting in a new scope on my kitchen table ar, and then discombobulated a half dozen clay birds @ 200 yards.
load was 25.0 grs H335 under a hornady 55gr fmj with S&B primers.

Thanks,i think ill try H335,but i read alot of muzzel flash ,maybe not so good on a short barrel?
Fair amount of muzzle flash (see post #5) but it meters so damn well, cheap, and its accurate with the 55's.
