Guns found in purchase of random storage unit - Can they be registered?

Why is it that people believe the police are the experts on firearms. There only interest is not in the best interest of the value of the gun but the immediate confiscation and destruction. In fact, most cops I know have very little if any true knowledge of firearms and value of or collectibility of. The PD is only interested in if it was used in a crime, that's the only value to them. If not, melt it. Original 1861 Colt,, bend it in half. I ask people if you would have the police ID an old vase or chair and they say no, ID an old gun, and they get the connection. Ever since the GCA of 68, this is what the media and the libs have done to people, we have alot of unraveling to do.
If you were to win a storage facility in auction and it had 10 gold bars, would you tell the cops? If it had 10 pounds of pot or 100 pounds of coke? No, because its mine and if I told them they would confiscate everything. I would flush the coke down the toilet and smoke the pot, in a bonfire of course.

If I were the OP, I might give the guns to someone in a relatively free state.

CT does not have gun registration. Give them to someone in CT. Then they can transfer them to the MA FFL for sale. Or just sell them himself and give you the money.

Actually, that a great idea. As long as it is legal for the CT person to possess them in CT.

Sell them to Mexicans, like everyone in Texas and Arizona does. (sarcastic)

I found this in the terms and conditions "Illegal Contraband including Guns, Weapons, Drug Paraphernalia must be turned over to the proper authorities"

wtf.

First: T&C is for software, you aren't getting winders 1.002 with that storage unit, so they can stuff it.
Second: WTF does illegal contraband have to do with guns? I swear new englanders...

I did a couple of these buys when I lived in NV, best we got was one of these in a box. No need to call the PD there unless you found crack rocks, a dead hooker, or both.

Usually, we just found stacks of porn.

exactly my thoughts! beat me to it again Dr.
If I was the guy that won the unit I would FA-10 them and shut up about it. Some of those auctions have rules saying that guns etc have to be surrendered to the police, but that's a crock of crap. There is nothing in MGL stating that a "found gun" is illegal if possessed by a licensed individual, the only legal requirement is to FA 10 any acquisition within 7 days.

In MA if the cops are called about it you will never see the guns, ever again, unless you happen to know someone on that PD who is a pro RKBA guy that can prevent that from happening.

If you find a gun and have a LE friend who can "run the gun" (check to make sure there is no NCIC stolen gun report on the item) you can save yourself a world of future hurt if you are ever in a situation where the police run the number to see if you are in possession of a stolen gun. This only happened to me once when US customs ran the serial number on a 1911 when I stopped to get the "proof you had the item before leaving the US" form when going to Canada, eh?.
