Been searching around the forum and couldn't find anything recent about a good shop in the Springfield area to do a transfer. Also, any shops worth checking out for someone who usually isn't in the area for handguns new/used and reloading supplies?

Thanks!

Only one I am familiar with is Nick's on RT.20 in Palmer. Small shop with reloading supplies.....prices seemed right for a small outfit....friendly and clean....I have not purchased from them yet but stop in when driving by.

Nicks is conveniently located right off the Palmer Pike Exit, new ownership a year or two ago. I think prices went up but they have a lot more guns now, afaik.

I would also recommend Guns n Gear in Agawam. farther off the interstate, but good people.

Guns Inc ? Never been, heard a mean guy owned/managed it? But now there's a cutie that runs the place? Never been, should probably go, called her cute on multiple occasions here but never met her, lol.

Paper city firearms, Marshall and Pete are great dudes.
Guns n gear in Agawam
Guns n gun parts west Springfield
Nick's sports shop in Palmer.

Not necessarily that order but all great area shops with more importantly nice staff.

There is also a small shop in Agawam, Culverin Firearms. The owner, Walter, is a very good guy. He doesn't keep a whole bunch of stuff on hand, but is usually happy to help in any way her can. He doesn't inflate prices really either. I think he has the shop mainly because he loves guns, not because he is trying to get rich.

The cheapest FFL for transfers would be Culverine. All of the mentioned shops are at least "good".

I've been in all of them in the past month haha.

I'll second and say papercity firearms. $25 fee and they're awesome to deal with.

don't know what Culverine in Feeding Hills charges for a transfer (but they're only down the end of 57 from the agawam rotary), but I'll also add in that is an awesome shop, A+! I totally forgot about it lol, might have to take a ride over today…

Paper city, personal Defense specialists or dark horse gunsmithing in south Hadley. Maybe out of your range but I'd recommend the three in a heart beat.

Firearm Professionals on Main St in Agawam is another close one
A-10 in Southwick. Veteran owned, laser engraving on site. Nice guy

I'd recommend Paper City and Culverine first. I went to Firearms Professionals to use their virtual training range and was very impressed with the people and the virtual range. I can't speak to how they'd be on transfers.

I've used every shop in the area for transfers. You can't go wrong with Culverine or Firearm Professionals. Both were a pleasant experience.

I sold a guy a 1911, and met him at his choice of dealer. It was called Guns and Gun Parts (clever eh?) in Springfield. About as big as a broom closet and attached to a pizza/beer place.

shaggy's correct, it's west springfield, and to the point of interesting, the owner is a really nice guy, can't recall his name at this point, and he has been in the business a long time. He has a lot of contacts all over the country due to being in the business so long, which served me very well a few years back. he put me into contact with a gentleman in alabama that got me a lifter dog spring for a very old stevens 720b.

a few really good shops around, obviously others not so much. what takes time is figuring out what they specialize in, which someday may be beneficial to you in the future…in ways you may not even anticipate at this point.

but OP, any of the shops listed in this thread had good rapport with local gun owners. that's important to us, and hopefully you. may they treat you well as they've treated us

Guns n Gun Parts's owner is Mike, great guy. Give him some time and he can just about pull anything you need out of thin air.

Paper city will be the most convenient, they have a modern setup where you sit a a computer to fill out your form, he reviews it from his computer and your out of there.no lines or waiting for fudds to get there stupid questions answered.
