Gun shows

Your use of the term "gun show loophole" aids and abets the antis by giving credence to a fabrication. That fact is not altered by your ex post facto rationalization.

When you use the antis' language, you put the argument on their terms, meaning THEY WIN! Another reason I don't refer to any of my guns as a "weapon," assault or otherwise, except in terms dripping with sarcasm.

I think you're going a bit overboard on Glenn. I think most of us knew
what he meant (I sure did) and that he meant what he said about the "gun
show loophole" in a more euphemistic sense. I think that jumping his
shit because he didn't put quotes around the term was just a bit
unfair. He was using "the antis language" because thats what
the topic of discussion was about. Yes, we all know it's a made
up term designed to slander gun shows. (food for thought- what
would you do if they started calling it the "private sale loophole"
instead? It still sounds "bad" despite it being more factually
correct. )

And weapon? c'mon scrive... we all know what the NRA party line is, but
seriously, do you think some of us carry a loaded gun around for the sake of
showing it to people as a conversation piece? My carry guns, for instance,
were purchased with the intent of them being weapons, if the need ever
arises. If I wanted gun for that purpose that I didn't consider a weapon I
would have bought a rubber glock and painted it black. [rolleyes] I can
agree that some of my guns are not intended as and will never see use as a
"weapon" but saying someone can't legitimately use the term within a given
context to define some firearms is a fairy tale existence. The NRA somehow
or another is breathing their own fumes thinking that by calling something a
non threatening name that it will diminish the "negative impact." I can agree
that this kind of stuff may have value in a training environment or severe
newbies, but I don't think the OP here is a "severe newbie". I think Shane was
merely interested in trying to figure out how the antis think, thats all.
