While the pic you posted is hot, I wholeheartedly disagree with your statement. Pretty girl with gun = worthwhile post. Mav, treat her right. She has the upper hand. [laugh]

This. Funny how most new shooters choose this grip. I can't hit shit with that grip. Her accuracy and follow up shots will improve greatly mav.

I'll work on it with her. Honestly, the Sig P220 is too big for her to grip comfortably. She is much more comfortable gripping my Sig P229 and Walther PPK/s. I'll be picking up a Glock G19 in the not-to-distant future for her as well.

also if you're going to take advice from us internet weenies--i wouldn't be starting her with a .45.

lady atilla likes my 1911 and 8045 cougar... but i don't always bring them when we go shooting because i don't want her to develop bad habits such as a flinch because of the recoil from a .45.

she primarily shoots 9mm, .22 LR, and when i had my S&W wheel gun .38.

My wife instinctively went for this grip when I first started teaching her. We are wheel gun lovers so I gor her finally trained to automatically grip with a good revolver hold.....you know.....high hand hold.....overlap the left thumb over the right and pull down on it. Works great.......when I'm at the range shooting my friends auto loaders they laugh at me for not using a thumbs forward grip on thier semis.......I still grip it like a revolver......and get tight shot groups that way so let em laugh I say!

Isosceles VS Weaver, 2 thumbs forward VS cup hold... I was taught to use whatever works for MYSELF. After many, many rounds downrange, I still don't have propper technique, but I hit what I'm aiming at. I have what I call "combat accuracy", means I can pump A LOT of lead into a man sized target at around 30 ft seriously fast. Bad guy dead, mission accomplished, end of fairy tale. Same goes with a rifle... MAN SIZED is the key word. I don't train with guns to punch tiny groups into a cardboard target, I train so I can keep at least some of the skills I once had, and that's it. All the training in the world is not going to help you if you are not stress resistant. Best example for that would be J. Yeager and his infamous Iraq video. Hours and hours of training, certainly a great skillset on the range, and a complete and utter failure in the field. Some things you have or you don't, it's that simple.

But most of the people at my club look at me funny if I dont set up at a benchtop.

maybe I do just look funny

People at my club look at me funny because I'm usually dressed like I'm going to invade Iraq... [rofl]That and I don't own a Double-barreled shotgun and shoot trap like the rest of the Fudd's.
