The following is courtesy of Yamil Sued who is doing a photo shoot for Nighthawk Custom. This is the Nighthawk Custom Global Response Pistol (GRP) outfitted with an Insight Tech-Gear M3X w/ IR filter cap (essentially the same light ITG makes for some guys in Naval Special Warfare, just with a different backplate). - ERHARDT

Close!!

Three Lights with Honeycomb Grids and one Soft Box on top with just a little fill!!

Lots of reflectors, Gobos and other modifiers to make it more interesting.

Nice. If you do any lighting videos, please post a link here. I'd like to see them. I have one Alien Bee 400 with an octabox and I can do ok with that but I'd like to learn to use more complicated setups like yours.

Also, blogs are easy. Just go to http://www.blogspot.com/. Here's a relevant one: http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/

Come to AZ!!

I might do a Blog with Lighting Videos!!

I just need someone to teach me how to do the Blog thing!!

You should DEFINITELY do a blog with lighting videos! I'm sure many photographers (beginners to professionals) would benefit and enjoy them. I know I would!

I've only started to play around with product photography and the lighting seems to be the trickiest (but most fun) part.

Now about the Blog issue... Sorry, no experience of my own to share... but as Paul said... I'm sure it can't be too hard to figure out as it seems to be the popular thing these days.

Excellent. Thanks Yamil. I look forward to the blog.

I have been using this Lighting Setup File for Photoshop designed by a guy called Kevin Kertz. He includes just about everything as can be seen from the attached Layers Palette.

It's great for sharing lighting setups. Here's an example I just put together.

Heh, pretty much.

He's saying he has a bunch of studio strobes. They're basically a big version of a typical Nikon or Canon flash except they sit on a stand and you plug them into the wall (more or less). They put out WAY more light and are triggered via RF remote control.

Due to the amount of light and that they're remote, they allow a lot of control over the light (placement and light modifiers), which he obviously knows how to take advantage of.

I'm looking forward to his blog.
