GROTON - After 12 months of silence, the sounds of gunfire will once again echo at the firing range when local patrolmen descend upon it later in the spring to renew their firearms certifications.

The news broke last night when Police Chief Donald Palma appeared before selectmen to inform them that his officers would be using the range over a span of 30 days to practice using their guns.

The town should inform the neighbors that they will not be 'bothered' by any police activity even if they call for it. "We like to help, sir, but the sirens and flashy lights might disturb the neighborhood and taint the water supply"...

Chief Palma is a good guy. The people that live near the dump are looking for something to complain about.

Really it was the wives complaining because they couldn't hear the old man's car come in the driveway, while they were upstairs with the "Pool Boy".
