In the latest issue of Guns and Ammo magazine there is an article about Finnish sniper Simo Hayha. Check it out if you have a chance. This fellow killed 542 Russian invaders in 3 months in 1939, with an iron sighted bolt action rifle. Mostly he used a 28/30, a Finnish Mosin variant. At a time when many of us are debating what to stock up on in the wake of the election and then the endless discussion about the best SHTF rifle it may be helpful to remember that determination, skill and mental attitude may carry us further in the coming days then what hardware we possess. Just a thought.

I've always enjoyed reading WWII history and the accounts of the lone soldier.

For your viewing pleasure, check out Enemy at the Gates starring Ed Harris and Jude Law. Nothing better than a sniper duel.
