So, that pesky little Moderators Topic down there..

What do you think that they are doing that's so sneaky that no one else can see?

I think that they are planning to take over the worlds supply of Ice Cream. This way they can get people not used to eating Ice Cream. Then they are going to interduce it again at what they are going to call, "The GRAND Ice Cream Social" so everyone will get brain freeze.

Then, while everyone is grabbing thier heads in pain. They are going to send a probe up to the moon to get a VERY LARGE supply of Cheese. This way no one will see it and with a large supply of cheese, places like Cabbots in Vermount will have to pay large sums of money to the Moderators of the NES.

C-pher,
Let me assure you... I am lactose intolerant. I DO NOT eat icecream or cheese. That being said. I will volunteer my services to be the official non-icecream-eating person to be on the official lookout for the dastardly deeds to happen. If so I will be fully supplied with warm water to hand out to combat the brain freeze effects.

Mods: If you are reading this, go ahead and try to catch me... I will be easily spotted from far away. I look just like my avatar.

Sometimes I'm convinced that many here already have brain freeze! [twisted]

Hmm, I suspected as much!

For more mauture cheese there isn't. The bactera used to make the cheese will eat up the lactose. It's those pesky "new" cheeses that will have higher lactose levels. Bree, Gouda, Ricotta, Fresh Mozzarella, Camembert, Havarti, maybe a young Monterey Jack...

Those are the ones that you have to say away from...

Older cheese like Cheddar, Parmigiano Reggiano, Asigos, Gruyere, there are very low in Lactose....shouldn't cause a problem.

Wanna bet? There's plenty of lactose in cheese, more than enough to make someone who's lactose intolerant want to sprint for a bathroom.

Adam, try Lactaid (or the generic lactase enzyme sold by places like Walmart) - the stuff really does work. I know.l

Nekkid pitchers... stripped M-1's, Lee-Enfields without their wood... all sorts of obseen things!

Yes I do take those. Although, sometimes with some foods there isn't enough lactaid in the world to keep me from EA syndrome. For normal things like pasta with cheese on top and the like, it works.. Other things... OH BOY watch out!

So, you're going to make me look it up so I can be sure...I just remember learning that because my mom has the largest selection of Cheeses in the Tri state area.

But I'm going to find out.

Can those with lactose intolerance enjoy Cabot cheeses?

All Cabot cheeses contain zero (0) grams of lactose. Eating any aged cheese should not affect those with lactose intolerance, regardless of how much is eaten, because lactose - the major carbohydrate of cheese - totally disappears within 3 to 4 weeks after the cheese is made.

But being that that's from Cabot, I'm going to see to make sure that it's not just some cheese ploy.

Some dairy foods contain less lactose
Some dairy foods contain less lactose than others, and may be better for people who suffer from lactose intolerance. For example:
Fermented milk products including some yoghurts, mature cheeses (like cheddar cheese, fetta and mozzarella) and butter generally pose no tolerance problems.
Heated milk products, such as evaporated milk, seem to be better tolerated than unheated foods because the heating process breaks down some of the lactose.

Good info...
For me though. If you have ever had to endure 2 hours of doubled over in excruciatingly painful cramping from eating dairy, you would rather not take the chance.

Funny thing... I only developed this problem about 4 years ago.

Adam

I hear ya. They say that you can develop it late in life.

I have it to an extent. But I don't double over in pain. IF I eat ice cream or milk, I feel like I'm going to throw up. So, I have to drink a lot of water after I eat Ice Cream.

But my dumb ass still eats it.

And I have a friend that shellfish will kill him. But he's afraid to eat escargot because it's not worth the risk to see if it will cause an issue.

And that's OK, it's just more for me.

I think that the Mods talk about us.

They say all sorts of terrible or wonderful things depending on who they're talking about.

And they only speak in Klingon in case any of us ever bust in.

Nah, we talk about you right out in the open. [wink]

Hey, you guys are off top...wait. Nevermind. Carry on.

I heard that they are now speaking Romulan because you busted them SR.

Oh yea, we have moles....well more like ants. And being that we can't really understand them, most of the time we get the story really wrong.

One should hope so.

[lol]

That's what I was thinking.

"Look at the hairy little boy!" [shock]

Ahem! What happened to that "keep it clean", this is a family forum stuff?

Looks like Derek needs to be taken out behind the woodshed . . . I nominate Lynne for the task! [lol]

Either that or she may have to hit the red button again!
