govliquidation.com has barrels of 9mm, 5.56, and 7.62 coming up 4 auction

There is a 10% buyers premium
Make sure you have your paper work settled. There was some "end use" and "title" BS I came across when trying to buy a few things last year.
Also you need to have your shipping ready to go. If your not going to pick up yourself. They don't give you a lot of time to pick items up.

At least they offer tailgate loading of the item.

yes, have your ducks in a row or forfeit your deposit and or items if not picked up on their rules. also be a US citizen to enter base with insurance cards. was checking PA and they have 1000's of pounds of spent brass.

We tried buying a 1200lb lot of 223 brass few years ago.....we where grossly out bid.

What did it go for?

I will try to see if I can bring up the closed auction. I think, or so. Scrap prices where pretty high then.
One of the guys on the buy said at the time brass gun cases where getting 2.40# @ 500# walk in price.

The scrap guy figured some where between 12-13lbs per 1000 cases. Or about 85,000 cases.
We topped our bid at 2800$ I,believe the selling price was 4k? We said screw it as we could get known good brass for about 70$ per thousand anyway just not in that quantity.
Our scrapper friend said that a lot of the buyers are going to eat her precondition the brass and sell it to reloaders or already have a high payer for that particular alloy?
I don't know shit.....seemed like a cool thing to do then.

Would you care to elaborate?

I won an auction for some workbenches (you've seen them). The final bid was a bit over $400, by the time they were done adding taxes, buyer's premium, and "handling" charges, they total was $550, which I paid. The benches are worth at least 3X that.

When I called to pick them up, they told me that I couldn't get them myself because they were located someplace in the building where the public was prohibited from entering. They said I needed to hire a rigger. For workbenches. I told them I'd find someone, and the person doing dispersal for the seller told me that I could only use their rigger, who wanted $200 to move the workbenches from somewhere in the building to the loading dock where I could load them onto a truck.

It was obvious that the people managing the dispersal saw that I got a really good deal on the benches, and figured they could extort some more money out of me. When we complained to govliquidation.com, they basically said, "Tough shit. The seller can do whatever they want." None of these shenanigans were spelled out at all before the auction. This was all shit they pulled after I paid.

It does sound as if EC got screwed. That sucks.

If you see something you like look to see the loading terms listed. It will state what they will or will not do, and what they expect from you. For instance they will load many things onto a tailgated truck. Some other items they state must be placed on a trailer even if it is a trailer itself, due to condition.

Also, taxes: I believe the cartridges are taxed at 12.5 % but they will load it for you. You have to have your vehicle weighed going in and then they weigh it after loaded with the brass.

On items they have on post/base and they help with loading there can be good deals to be has.

Preview and buyer pickup by appointment only. West Point will provide tail gate loading. Buyer will be required to weigh-in prior to pick up and weigh out after load out.

A 12.5% Buyer's Premium applies to this lot.

For what it's worth, when they were handling the sale of surplussed military vehicles, I bought an M101 trailer. It's been some years but I think it was $200, with the all the add ons it didn't top $300. I had a (fun) day trip to Ft. Drum to pick it up. All in all it was a good buy and I got a HECK of a lot of trailer for the money. It's married to my (now my son's) beast of a Dodge 250 (both the truck and the trailer have the HD options increasing the total payload to more than I will ever haul). I retained the pintle hitch and built a harness connector so the trailer is still stock but hooks up perfectly to the truck.

I'd buy through them again but in light of your experience, I'd get commitments from the seller on pickup terms.

Some other company (Iron Planet maybe) now handles all/most of the vehicle surplussing. Thinking about getting a Hummer... Maybe in a year or so as a rolling advert for the business...
