Hi all,

I just thought I'd post my experiences shooting the Kahr P45 and PM45 at this past weekends sportsman's fair at Blue Trail Range in Wallingford, CT.

Let me first say that I really like my PM9. At one point I tried a PM40 and found that my shot recovery was much slower than with the 9mm, so I stuck with that.

I was curious if the different type of recoil produced by the lower pressure 45 cartridge would make shooting the PM version any easier than the 40.
In the end the answer was, yes, but not enough for me.

I found with the PM45 that the gun shifted in my hand between shots. I have large hands and wonder if that actually was a problem. Don't get me wrong, the recoil was not intimidating at all, its just that I had to re-establish my grip between shots.

I then moved onto the P45. Wow, what a difference. This gun was actually pleasant to shoot. The extra grip length gave me more to hold onto and the extra bbl length translated into more push straight back and less flip. Yes it recoiled more than my PM9, which seems to somehow bend the laws of physics, but it was easy to double tap with both shots strung vertically not too far apart.

To put it into perspective, I'm no Eric Grauffel. But I do shoot at least once a week. I generally shoot a .45ACP 1911 and several years ago made expert in SSP in IDPA. So I'm reasonably proficient, but definitely not particularly talented.

I hope this is of some use to someone.

Don
