I always wear shooting glasses and good thing. Today I was at the range today (indoor 50 foot range) and was shooting 9mm FMJ with my Sig 228. I sometimes get cases hit me after they bounce off the wall but today something else happened. After shooting a round I had something stike me directly on my nose. I was surprised as I really felt some pain. Sure enough I was bleeding. Nothing bad but I'm quite sure it would have been real bad if I got it in the eye. I was the only one at the range so I know it was from my round... amazing how it came straight back at me.

I wear a hat also. Nothing like a hot shell stuck in between your shootin glasses and your eye.
+1 Producer

There are some ranges that require hats with a bill. I've had a hot .223 case fall down my back. I do NOT want a hot cartridge case to fall between my glasses and eye.

I still have the scar from a hot shell ejected from my mother-in-law's Glock 23.

The rest of the story is I also now own that gun!

Damn, don't tell me that you sued her for it! [laugh2] [rolleyes]

I was shooting my black powder revolver and one of the caps blew apart and burried itself right into my cheek. I always wear glasses and after that know to enforce that everyone I am with at the range wear their glasses all the time, shooting or not.

I guess her aim was off and that's the only thing she could hit you with???

[laugh2]

I once had a very hot Swiss 7.5 mm round melt me to a shooting mat. The burn was only the beginning of the pain.

I was at a class several years ago and a hot casing went down the back of my shirt, all you can do is grin and bear it.

I've had one go down the front of my tank top....it wasn't a lot of fun. The guy shooting next to me offered to get it out for me, but I politely declined his offer. [laugh]

One of the problems I had when shooting DCM with my Garrand is that although I'm right handed, my left eye is dominant. This means that sometimes the shooter to my left ocasionally ejects a spent case that hits me dead center just below the belt. It doesn't hurt, but it ruins your concentration.

I have an SKS and a Star Model B that both seem to expel rounds straight into the air. When I am done with a Mag I usually have one or two rounds on the top of my cowboy hat.

The SKS I now use a shell deflector, the Star Model B I just live with.
