I have chrome set to clear my cache every time I close the browser, which can be several times a day.

This isn't chrome caching it, it is google caching it, which they will generally do for all of your search history unless you turn off search history in your google account settings. - turning off your search history is something I would recommend anyway, just from a privacy standpoint.

Yeah you're right I always keep my Google history of I had turned it on to try the Google now app on my android phone and forgot to shut it off.
