Dave Kopel over at the Volokh Conspiracy mentioned a really good article he wrote for Channukah last year, while guest blogging for Glenn Reynolds. In it, he refers to Channukah as "Armed Jews Week", and provides a historical refutation of the image of Jews as pacifistic milktoasts, particularly during the 30's and 40's in Eurupe.
