IMO the good thing right now seems to be he won't be sworn in and therefore will help the slight R majority with that one tied seat that is still to be voted on.

The official standing now is 201R, 197D, 1 tie, one in jail.
Laughton won't be present for Organization Day on 12/7, so won't be sworn in. On that day, the full House can decide the tie, and also decide to not seat the electee from Nashua.

My dealer has called "her" sir more than once and was always given grief for it. He now consciously steels himself not to use any gender specific term when talking to anyone there. Difficult since he's a "sir" and "ma'am" kind of guy.

Being Southerners, shaking the habit of "sir" and "ma'am" was difficult. We were surprised that many people were really offended by it, and I'm talking older traditional folks.
For me, it's not difficult to chose different modes of address. I've been writing, speaking, teaching, and engaging with people for well over 40 years.
While I suspect the tie will swing our way, it is going to depend on attendance.

Election night results showed Walker defeating the incumbent Democrat, Rep. Chuck Grassie, by one vote, but a recount ended in a tie. Lawmakers could have chosen the winner themselves or had the men share the seat, but Wilhelm, who offered the resolution ordering a special election, said those options would disrespect voters.
"Any attempt by us to determine Rochester's representation without further input from Rochester's voters would be an unprecedented intrusion into voter's wishes and a horrible look for the fairness of this body," he said."

The Office of the House Clerk published the notice of Laughton’s resignation on Thursday.
Laughton, who has been in and out of legal trouble since at least 2008, was until recently being held without bail in the Valley Street Jail in Manchester. The lawmaker was put there by 9th District Court Judge Kimberly Chabot, who found clear and convincing evidence that the incumbent state representative is currently a danger to the alleged victim and the community at large.
According to Valley Street Jail officials, Laughton was released on December 19.

Prosecutors said that from May 2022 until this month, Groves took naked images of children during bathroom breaks before their naptime. A preliminary forensic review of Groves' cellphone allegedly showed over 2,500 text messages between Groves and the person on the receiving end of the photos, with messages allegedly including discussion about the photos, and the explicit photos themselves, prosecutors said.
Groves is being charged with one count of sexual exploitation of children and one count of distribution of child pornography, federal prosecutors said. Laughton, meanwhile, is facing multiple counts of distribution of child sexual abuse images.
"There were multiple photos of him in the bathroom where his pants were on his ankles. I broke down into tears," the mother of a victim in the case said, explaining that investigators showed up at her door and had her identify her son in some of the photos. "How long was this going on for? Where did these photos go? I want to know who is going to be held accountable."
