Gobble, Gobble - MA Spring Turkey - April 26th...

I finally got out last week.
Went to small farm I have permission on next town over. Great spot but hard to hunt due to river, cows and small pasture and meadow surrounded by neighbors land.

Got in early and set up.
4:50 the ridge across from me lit up with gobblers. I counted at least 4-5 birds sounding off while roosted in the oaks. Boy that sound gets the heart pumping..!
I tagged out at this spot last year with birds flying off roost and working their way to my decoys with no calling required - so I was fired up and thinking it was going to be a good morning.....

5:20am, birds still on the roost from what I can tell.
Two shots fired from top of ridge where birds are roosting.
Three bearded birds leave roost and fly over me a ways out beards hanging in the wind and they settle on the neighbors land up in some pines.
Some hens come off the hill like their tails are on fire....

So that hunt was over by 5:30am....
I dont know for sure, but I think the guy up top snuck in there and shot 2 birds off the roost. Not illegal I guess, but not my cup of tea....

I'll be back in there as it's thick with them.
Hopefully the neighbor has tagged out and stays home. No trucks on the road so I'm pretty sure it was guy from nearby house.
Good for him for getting in there on them....If he didn't shoot them from roost. I don't know - where I come from, you don't shoot turkeys in flight (how come?) and you sure don't shoot them out of a tree at first light...Not saying that's what happened, but sure looked like it....

I was playing with my new GoPro I bought for a fishing trip.
I made a movie for my kids who are still away at school.....I'll share - All you film critics go easy....

Back to where I got routed last week. Three Jakes came off roost at 5:10 and made their way into my set, no calling, in about ten minutes....

I said I wasn’t going to shoot a Jake this year, but running out of time and they were there so....

I got the shot on GoPro, first attempt at that. Need to put video together....

(Crop full of dried corn and sunflower seeds from someone's backyard...)

Nice. Meat is meat.

As per above, been playing with GoPro and editing software during covid.
Allows me to share stuff with my dad and friends around the country.
My 2nd attempt at a self-filmed hunting film. Dont ask me how long it took to put together 5.5 minutes of video...
Having fun making the videos and editing....
