GOAL is planning a Rolling Rally for Sunday August 28th - Volunteers needed

Do we have any sign makers here on NES? Would anybody be interested in a group buy for magnetic signs, such as GOALS "I'm with GOAL" rally sign and GOAL's "Healey Hurts Families" sign? Or some others to help make our point....

Assuming GOAL is OK with reproducing them, it would be a good way to put them on vehicles and they will withstand highway speed if necessary. What does everybody think??

I would be in for some magnetic signs for the car....also the minimum speed and leo's can correct me if I am wring but can be done as long as you use flashers? I think....

I know a lot of effort is being done to put this ride together, but I'm wondering why exactly we need to have State Trooper approval of a route? I've run two motorcycle rides and as long as I told the local LEs we were coming at an estimated time we were OK. A couple towns were not exactly happy, but not a lot they can do about it. As others have said there is no real message for anyone to take away when forced on the highway. If for only a few miles or a couple exits it's fine, but the bulk of the ride needs to be through towns that need to see the message. News will never cover a long string of riders on the highway. Long string of cars, trucks, bikes snarling traffic will be news worthy.

I know, I'm not involved and not criticizing at all. But getting approval to me seems to be a waste of time and will force us on a route that isn't helping out message. How about a Sheriff's or Constable escort instead? Just a thought.

In order to keep everything together on back roads from Billerica to Hanson we'd need to close many intersections in many jurisdictions. We don't have the budget or the time to set up that many local police details.

You seem to have experience at this, I'm disappointed you didn't step up to the plate to help us. Like I've said to the other people that didn't volunteer to help, but have great ideas: There is really nothing stopping you from planning your own. We need to keep the pressure on, and there's a lot of time between now and when the legislature meets again.

I'm going to start a new thread soon with all the details for this rally. We can still use some help, especially at the starting and ending points with registration, radio collection, and traffic control.

I too also ran several motorcycle rides, and technically, any sort of parade or formed procession on a State Numbered Road requires a State Police Permit. Of course, I only found out when we sent notification letters out and included the State Police Troop. Local and County LEOs didn't even know that.

And here on NES:

It's on, and it's official. Sunday August 28th.

Cars, trucks, and bikes are welcome. We're asking you to register with a donation of $25 per vehicle to cover our costs and maybe raise a little money.

We're going to start with a limit of 200 vehicles, but we might raise it after I meet with the president of the club where we're starting, or if the mix of bikes is high.

I'm signing up as a motorcycle but if my family wants to go for a ride, will it be an issue if I show up in a car? Thanks

Did the food trucks for the end work out or should I be bringing food?

From what I read a few pages back, the food trucks are going to start at the start with us and travel down south and set up down there as well (I was more curious about wether they take cash only or plastic)

It's probably best to plan on Cash, it makes it easier and faster for the vendor(s).
