So what's the consensus here on NortheastShooters??

“GOAL files first, of several, legal challenges in federal court to Chapter 135 (H.4885)!

The case has been filed (August 1, 2024)
Court filing document.
On what can only be a dark historic day in U.S. history, GOAL is announcing that we filed the first, of several, actions in federal court against Chapter 135 of the Acts of 2024 (H.4885).
This first filing goes after the licensing and training "regimes" created in this historic anti-civil rights attack by the Massachusetts legislature. Now that the case has been filed, we await the court to assign a judge to the case.
We are honored to lead the 2A community in this effort and will keep everyone informed as this first part of our effort moves forward. More to follow.”

Pretty wild that over the past year a bunch of men capable of reading but “want to defend liberty” ask so many can’t even answer you questions. No one knows. No one caress. Buy everything. Who gives a flying f***.

I'm no legal expert but it seems to me that you have all these different groups who will be filling lawsuits, wouldn't it be better if they all got together and coordinated their efforts as one team? To many cooks in the kitchen kinda thing.
There's going to be a whole slew of lawsuits over this. Some by in-state orgs, some with different plaintiffs, taking different angles, others by national orgs. So, so many lawsuits.

Everyone here lives for the 2nd amendment. No one knows the laws, nobody is going to narc on you. Sucks we can’t buy new rifle, just make your rifle yours. Scotch whiskey, out.

I think GOAL mentioned this in their recent podcast how groups will focus on what they feel has the best chance of going somewhere and doesn't have overlap with what might be going on in other states. They have limited resources, lawsuits are expensive, they need to be smart with how the money is spent. When you say too many cooks in the kitchen that's what I imagine happening if you have every organization trying to combine resources and step on each other's toes.

The new LTC licensing regime cannot be allowed to be enforced for the simple reason that its training requirements are impossible to meet at the present time.

To be honest, this is low hanging fruit. And if they win all that will change is they will keep issuing licenses under the old training requirement until the new one is ready. And that's if they win. It's not going to affect any other part of the law.

And if they get a stay, it'll still just be the training.

But a win will be a thumb in the eye of the legislature.

All true.

But the alternatives are noncompliance (which some can't stomach), violent revolt (which others can't stomach), or bending over (which, based on the number of people wanting to know how to register ASAP, are a lot of us).

The courts exist to curb the legislature. If we can get them to do that, we should. God knows nothing else will in this state.

i read through goal's court filing doc. why is there only one mention of the word "assault" and not by goal in the doc? seems like you're trying to concede the awb, even though those arms are in common use. hell, the illinois assault weapon ban is likely to get struck down too.

It makes sense they are going after the low hanging fruit on day 1.

I would be worried if they went after the entire thing on day 1 when they barely had time to prepare.

Kinda a change for them. In the past, I think it's been:

GOAL = focus on legislative fight
Comm2A = focus on legal fight, lawsuits

GOAL probably got tired of being stonewalled by braindead anti 2A legislators.

Good. The more lawsuits the better, I say. Flood them so they are tied up at the state level and made fools of.

This isn’t the place nor time to dig into “assault weapons”. The licensing issue needs to be fixed ASAP and bringing a broad case with something that isn’t even in effect yet (the new assault weapon stuff doesn’t largely matter until 10/23) isn’t smart.

because they aren't objecting to the AWS in this filing. just the non-existent training.
The state will probably just agree to delay the training requirement until it exists. I'd be surprised if it even makes it into court.

Agreed. This isn’t a battle worth fighting for them. But it doesn’t look great for them if pieces of the law are already being chipped away on day 1.

Probably won't make it to court, Guida is involved with the COMM2A case = settle for good enough.
