GOAL’s Civil Rights Restoration Lobby Day

Make your Faces Seen and Your Voices Heard

Gun Owners’ Action League (GOAL) will be holding a lobbying day at the Massachusetts State House on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 11am to 2pm. The purpose is for all members of the Second Amendment community in Massachusetts to have their faces seen and their voices heard.

On June 23, 2022 the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) issued a landmark civil rights decision in the case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc., ET AL v. Bruen ET AL. In that decision the highest court firmly ruled that the Second Amendment is indeed an individual civil right enumerated in the United States Constitution. The Court reiterated that Second Amendment “…is not a second class right subject to an entirely different body of rules.” Further, any laws or regulations regarding the Second Amendment must meet the absolute highest standard of review.

This ruling now places a great deal of Massachusetts gun laws in violation of the Court’s ruling and the Constitution. With the help of State Representative Jeffery Turco of Winthrop, GOAL has filed corrective legislation. HD.5245 An Act Relative to Restoring Civil Rights would bring the Commonwealth’s laws into some compliance with the SCOTUS ruling.

The current legislative ends July 31, 2022 so there is no time to waste. Lack of action by the State’s Legislature will place the Commonwealth in a civil rights violation position!

Please join GOAL at the State House for this historic civil rights restoration push. Like our forefathers, this call for action could make history!
